About the role
Sparken Hill Academy is looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our Key Stage 2 team. You will work under the direction of class teachers to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and progress, helping every child feel confident, included and ready to achieve.
The post is based in KS2, but you may occasionally be deployed to other departments depending on the needs of the school. We’re looking for someone who is flexible, adaptable and happy to support children of different ages and abilities.
Main responsibilities
Support individuals and small groups in class, helping pupils access the curriculum and build independenceDeliver learning activities and interventions planned by the teacher, particularly in literacy and numeracySupport pupils with additional needs, including SEND, following agreed plans and strategiesHelp create a safe, positive and well-organised learning environmentPromote good behaviour and positive relationships in line with the academy’s policiesPrepare and tidy resources, and support displaysObserve and share feedback on pupils’ progress and wellbeing with teaching staffSupport children’s personal care and welfare needs where requiredContribute to the wider life of the academy as part of a team
About you
You will have:
GCSE (or equivalent) in English and maths, grade 4/C or aboveExperience of working with children, in a school or similar setting (paid or voluntary)Good communication skills, with the ability to build warm, positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carersPatience, resilience and a good sense of humourThe ability to work as part of a team and to use your own initiativeA commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable: a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, and experience of supporting pupils with SEND or delivering interventions.
