Position Summary

The Tripoli Community School District is seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Transportation Scheduler to coordinate and manage daily school bus routes, transportation schedules, and activity trip requests. This position plays an important role in ensuring students have safe, reliable, and efficient transportation to and from school and school-sponsored activities.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to manage changing schedules, and a commitment to supporting students, families, and district staff. The district is willing to assist with the cost of obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for a qualified candidate who is interested in pursuing this certification.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong organizational, scheduling, and time-management skills.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to coordinate transportation schedules and respond to changing needs.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with school administrators, bus drivers, staff, parents, and other district personnel.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to maintain accurate transportation records.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism.
  • A valid driver's license required; a CDL with applicable school bus endorsements is preferred.
  • Willingness to obtain a CDL and required school bus endorsements, with financial assistance available through the district.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain daily school bus routes and transportation schedules.
  • Coordinate bus assignments and schedules for regular school routes, extracurricular activities, athletic events, field trips, and other district-sponsored transportation needs.
  • Communicate transportation schedules, route changes, and special trip arrangements to bus drivers, administrators, and other appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinate with building principals, coaches, teachers, and other staff to schedule transportation for school activities and events.
  • Arrange substitute drivers and coordinate coverage when regular drivers are unavailable.
  • Adjust routes and schedules as needed due to student needs, driver availability, school activities, weather, road conditions, or other unexpected circumstances.
  • Maintain accurate records of bus routes, driver assignments, activity trips, and other transportation-related information.
  • Serve as a point of contact for transportation scheduling questions and requests from district staff and families, referring concerns to the appropriate administrator when necessary.
  • Work with the Superintendent and building administrators to address transportation concerns and identify scheduling improvements.
  • Assist with coordinating transportation needs for students requiring specialized services, including special education transportation, as applicable.
  • Monitor transportation requests and scheduling conflicts to help ensure efficient use of district buses and drivers.
  • Help ensure transportation schedules and procedures align with applicable state requirements and district policies.
  • Attend meetings as needed to coordinate transportation schedules and communicate transportation-related information.
  • Perform other transportation scheduling and administrative duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in a school or district office setting, with regular communication with bus drivers, administrators, staff, and families. The position requires flexibility to respond to scheduling changes, transportation requests, and occasional urgent situations.

This position focuses on transportation scheduling and coordination. Responsibility for vehicle maintenance, mechanical repairs, and fleet servicing is not part of this position.

Terms of Employment

Work schedule, compensation, and other terms of employment will be established by the Tripoli Community School District Board of Education and applicable district policies. Assistance with the cost of obtaining a CDL and required school bus endorsements may be available through the district, subject to district approval and applicable requirements.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
