The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer (Contractor) based in India.

We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and reliable cloud infrastructure across complex production environments. In this hands-on contract role, you will contribute to infrastructure strategy, cloud architecture, automation, and operational excellence across multiple projects and business environments. You will leverage your expertise in AWS, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and Windows Server administration to build new environments and optimize existing systems. Working with globally distributed engineering teams, you will help establish robust DevOps practices, strengthen security, and improve system performance and observability. This opportunity is ideal for a technically strong engineer who can combine architectural thinking with practical execution in a fast-paced consulting environment. The contract is expected to last 3–6 months, with flexibility to work remotely across India and at least two hours of overlap with U.S. working hours.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, build, configure, and maintain production-grade AWS infrastructure, including both new environments and existing deployments.
  • Manage AWS networking components, including VPCs, subnets, NAT and Internet Gateways, routing tables, Security Groups, and Network Access Control Lists (NACLs).
  • Implement and maintain cloud security controls using AWS services such as IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, CloudTrail, AWS Config, GuardDuty, and Security Hub.
  • Provision, configure, and manage AWS resources, including EC2 instances, RDS databases such as Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL, Application Load Balancers (ALB), AWS Certificate Manager (ACM), Route 53, and AWS WAF.
  • Administer Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, IIS configuration, licensing, PowerShell scripting, and basic operating system hardening.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot third-party Windows-based applications, resolving service availability, connectivity, and runtime issues.
  • Support .NET and Python runtime environments on Windows and ensure compatibility, reliability, and operational stability.
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation using Terraform and other relevant tools.
  • Configure and manage monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions using AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, or similar platforms.
  • Contribute to cloud infrastructure optimization, troubleshooting, incident resolution, and operational improvements across production environments.
  • Apply DevOps best practices to improve deployment reliability, infrastructure scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with distributed teams in an Agile, iterative delivery environment, coordinating implementation activities and communicating technical progress.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and conduct clear knowledge-transfer sessions and handoffs to support long-term maintainability.
  • Contribute to infrastructure and DevOps initiatives across multiple clients or business units, balancing architectural decisions with hands-on implementation.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience managing production AWS infrastructure, including building cloud environments from scratch and maintaining existing production systems.
  • Strong expertise in AWS networking, including VPCs, subnets, gateways, routing, Security Groups, and NACLs.
  • Practical experience with AWS security and compliance services, including IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, CloudTrail, Config, GuardDuty, and Security Hub.
  • Proven experience provisioning and managing AWS infrastructure components, including EC2, RDS, ALB, ACM, Route 53, and AWS WAF.
  • Strong Windows Server administration skills, including Active Directory, IIS, licensing, PowerShell automation, and basic OS security hardening.
  • Experience installing and supporting third-party Windows applications, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and managing .NET and Python runtime environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly Terraform, and production CI/CD pipeline implementation and management.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Grafana, or AWS CloudWatch, with Datadog, Grafana, or Akamai CDN experience specifically required.
  • Proficiency in Python or Go for scripting, infrastructure automation, and operational tooling.
  • Familiarity with additional cloud and DevOps technologies such as Azure, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible, Jenkins, or Mux Enterprise.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions, Helm, or advanced Kubernetes and Amazon EKS scaling is an advantage.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to investigate complex infrastructure and production issues.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions and conduct effective knowledge-transfer sessions.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional and globally distributed engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and iterative delivery practices.
  • Previous experience in consulting, contract engineering, or multi-client environments is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work remotely from India and maintain at least two hours of overlap with U.S. working hours.
  • Fully remote work: Work from anywhere in India.
  • Contract opportunity: An initial engagement of 3–6 months, offering the opportunity to contribute to high-impact infrastructure projects.
  • Flexible global collaboration: Work with distributed teams, with at least two hours of overlap with U.S. working hours required.
  • Modern cloud technologies: Gain exposure to AWS, infrastructure automation, CI/CD, observability, and contemporary DevOps tooling.
  • Cross-functional impact: Contribute to cloud architecture, infrastructure strategy, security, and operational excellence across multiple environments.
  • Collaborative engineering culture: Work alongside experienced professionals in a dynamic, fast-paced technical environment.
  • Professional growth: Expand your expertise through challenging projects, hands-on problem-solving, and exposure to diverse technical environments.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
