Therefore, the department invites applications from candidates in computer science that are driven by excellence in research and teaching as well as a strong interest for innovation and addressing societal challenges.

The call is open rank, i.e. we are looking for tenure-track Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Full Professors. The successful candidates will have a unique opportunity to shape the continued expansion of our computer science department.

The department consists of four Sections: Algorithms, Data and Artificial Intelligence (ADA); Cryptography and Cybersecurity (CRC); Human-Centered Computing (HCC); Programming Languages, Logic, and Software Security (PLS).

We are looking for applicants to strengthen and expand the above Sections, but topics beyond, or across sections are also welcome. We are, in particular, looking for applicants with competencies in the following topics:

  • Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence
  • Learning Theory
  • Algorithms and Complexity
  • NLP/Large Language Models,
  • Generative Media Foundation Models
  • Human-AI-Interaction
  • Explainable and Trustworthy AI
  • Data Management, Databases and Data Mining
  • Economics and Computation
  • Game Theory and Decision-Making
  • Quantum Algorithms and Programming
  • Software Engineering and Programming Languages

We generally encourage candidates within all areas of Computer Science – not restricted to the mentioned topics – to apply.

For full professorship candidates, we expect - in addition to excellent research and teaching in their field - that the candidates can demonstrate leadership, visions, collaborations and societal impact for the entire computer science department.

We provide starting packages with PhD funding (depending on position) and operational expenses for the first three years.

We wish to build a computer science research and study environment with equality and diversity as a core value for recruitment as well as for daily study and work life. If you have visions for or experience with activities or initiatives to support such core values in a computer science context, we encourage you to describe them in your application.

The starting date is flexible, from August 1st, 2027, and onwards.

The place of employment is Aarhus University, and the place of work is Åbogade 34, DK-8200 Aarhus N, Denmark.

Further information on the position can be obtained from Head of Department, Professor Kaj Grønbæk [email protected].

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
