Mobile Core Network Engineer, 100% in Zug

Key responsibilities:

  • Support day\-to\-day operation and maintenance of mobile Core Network elements.
  • Assist with monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of network and service issues.
  • Support HSS/HLR, DRA, STP/SCCP, GTT/GT translations, SMSC, IMS/VoLTE, PGW, PCRF and International Roaming environments.
  • Analyze alarms, logs, traces, and KPIs to identify potential network issues.
  • Troubleshoot Data, voice/VoLTE, SMS, roaming, signaling issues under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Use packet captures and troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark to investigate signaling and service problems.
  • Work with vendors and senior engineers on incident resolution, maintenance, and network changes.
  • Maintain operational documentation and troubleshooting procedures.

Requirements:

* degree in engineering discipline. Additional coursework in telecommunications related areas desirable. * Have 3\-5 years in Operations \& Maintenance experience in a live MNO Core Network focusing on one or more of the following areas: + Hands\-on experience in mobile Core Network operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting. + Understanding of 3G/4G Core Network architecture and signaling. + Familiarity with one or more of HSS/HLR, DRA, STP, GTT/GT Translation, SMSC, IMS/VoLTE, PGW, PCRF or International Roaming. + Basic understanding of SS7/MAP, Diameter, SMPP, SIP, and/or GTP. + Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a live MNO or telecommunications environment.
  • Hands\-on experience with Wireshark, packet analysis, Linux, Python, or Bash.
  • Exposure to multi\-vendor Core Network environments.
  • IMS experience is a plus.

Personality/Character:

  • Highly motivated. Willing to work hard and be rewarded for it.
  • Must be organized and won’t stop until the job is “solved forever”.
  • Attitude and aptitude are key. These traits trump all others.
