Job Summary:

The Strategic Sourcing / Commodity Manager is responsible for defining and leading enterprise-wide sourcing strategies across critical commodities and spend categories. This role has end-to-end ownership of category performance, including cost, quality, delivery, risk, and innovation, and drives alignment across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and executive leadership. As a leader within the procurement organization, this position moves beyond execution to shape long-term strategy, lead complex negotiations, develop supplier ecosystems, and deliver sustained competitive advantage in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Category Management

  • Own and develop multi-year category strategies aligned with business objectives, growth plans, and technology roadmaps. Establish dual‑source and risk‑mitigation strategies for critical materials
  • Build and manage executive-level supplier relationships, including strategic partnerships and alliances
  • Monitor global market conditions, geopolitical risks, and macroeconomic trends to proactively adjust sourcing strategies
  • Lead RFQs, RFPs, supplier selection, and sourcing decisions for assigned commodities or programs
  • Lead supplier negotiations covering pricing, lead time, commercial terms, and long‑term agreements
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships, including performance reviews and corrective actions
  • Act as a strategic partner to Engineering, Operations, and Program Management in NPI, product lifecycle management, and design-to-cost initiatives. Influence senior stakeholders and leadership decisions through data-driven insights and strategic recommendations
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve end-to-end supply chain performance and resilience
  • Support supplier development initiatives to improve quality, delivery, and cost performance
  • Identify and execute cost‑reduction initiatives, including VAVE, should‑cost analysis, and supplier consolidation. Champion best practices in sourcing, contracting, and supplier management across the organization
  • Track, validate, and report realized and forecasted cost savings
  • Support annual operating plan (AOP) goals and long‑range cost‑reduction targets
  • Support manufacturing continuity during supply disruptions. Serve as the escalation point for high-risk supply continuity, cost, or performance issues
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, contract terms, export controls, and government regulations. Support internal and external audits as required

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management
  • Demonstrated experience leading supplier negotiations, supplier agreements and sourcing initiatives
  • Experience in a manufacturing and/or regulated environment
  • Strong financial acumen, analytical, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25–50% depending on business needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP or ERP sourcing experience
  • Experience managing global supply bases and international sourcing strategies
  • Knowledge of contract terms, pricing structures, and supplier agreements
  • Expertise in supplier risk management, geopolitical considerations, and supply chain resilience
  • Knowledge of US Government Procurement DFAR requirements
  • Professional certification (CPSM, CSCP, or equivalent)

Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
