The posting

Are you a skilled and passionate Veterinarian eager to specialize in bovine health?

Join Our Team and What We'll Accomplish Together

TELUS Cattle Professional Services Inc. provides veterinary consulting and digital solutions that help beef and dairy producers optimize herd health, profitability, and sustainability. As a veterinarian on our team, you'll combine clinical expertise with data-driven insights to deliver actionable recommendations to cattle producers across Alberta and beyond.

We work alongside producers to establish more efficient, sustainable, and traceable food systems—from breeding and health management through to market outcomes. You'll help clients navigate the complexities of modern cattle production: balancing animal welfare, economic returns, regulatory compliance, and environmental impact. Our role is to be trusted advisors, not just service providers. We partner closely with producers to implement protocols that work for their specific operations, monitor results, and continuously refine recommendations based on herd performance and market conditions.

Our team is lean and collaborative, bringing together veterinarians, nutritionists, and other professionals all focused on delivering world-class service to our clients. We're based across Southern Alberta, with regular travel to producer operations across Alberta and occasionally to the United States. You'll manage direct client relationships, coordinate closely with the consultant team on complex herd health strategies, and mentor farm staff and veterinary assistants on-site. We're passionate about the work we do and committed to helping producers succeed.

What You'll Do

Clinical Work

  • Perform bovine surgeries and assisted calvings in field settings
  • Conduct pregnancy diagnoses and breeding soundness exams
  • Perform individual animal and herd-level examinations (in-person and via digital imaging)
  • Diagnose and treat common bovine health conditions in feedlot, cow-calf, and dairy operations
  • Perform regulatory procedures associated with cattle import/export or certification

Advisory & Consulting

  • Utilize data to monitor health parameters and perform ad hoc data analysis as needed
  • Communicate protocols, research findings, recommendations, and technical information to client operations and follow up as needed
  • Identify areas of concern, devise action plans, and recommendations in conjunction with the entire Consultant Team
  • Provide input to clients regarding animal health, production protocols, and procedures
  • Perform routine emergency and preventive care as it arises (e.g., wound care, respiratory assessments, surgical emergencies)

Team Collaboration & Training

  • Coordinate and oversee the training of cow-calf and feedlot workers
  • Conduct client site visits to monitor animal health procedures and events, and provide ongoing positive communication
  • Collaborate with the nutritionist and data analysis teams on integrated herd health strategies

What You Bring

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school; for those educated at non-AVMA accredited institutions or international schools, proof of passing the NAVLE is required
  • Qualification for licensure with the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association
  • Substantive experience working with beef cattle (cow-calf and/or feedlot operations) or demonstrated passion for bovine health as a specialization
  • Strong ability to diagnose and treat common bovine health conditions in field settings (pregnancy diagnoses, surgical cases, herd health assessments)
  • Proficiency in herd health management principles and data-driven decision-making for cattle producers
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfort presenting findings and recommendations to farming operations and non-veterinary staff
  • Ability to work independently in field environments and adapt to variable conditions and equipment
  • Clean and valid full Class 5 Driver's License (or other provincial equivalent); a driver's abstract will be required

Great-to-Haves

  • Certification in bovine reproduction (theriogenology) or beef production medicine
  • Hands-on experience with feedlot or dairy software platforms
  • Previous experience coordinating, mentoring, or training veterinary assistants or farm staff
  • Familiarity with TELUS Agriculture or other digital agriculture solutions
  • Experience transitioning from another animal species with strong foundational clinical skills and a demonstrated commitment to specializing in bovine medicine

Why TELUS Cattle Professional Services Inc.

The work is tangible—your recommendations directly impact herd health, producer profitability, and animal welfare. You'll have the autonomy to manage client relationships, the support of a collaborative team, and the opportunity to grow your expertise in bovine health and production medicine.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
