If you’re looking to work in a place that combines cutting-edge technology with a strong sense of culture and team spirit, and amazing benefits, then we are the place for you!

The Role

Tenet3 is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead and execute the company’s accounting and financial operations. Serving as our primary internal accounting authority, this role owns full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, government contract billing, indirect rate calculations, budgeting, forecasting, and incurred cost submissions.

This is a hands-on individual contributor position with broad functional ownership and no initial direct reports. The ideal candidate pairs rigorous technical accounting expertise with deep federal government contracting experience. You will independently steer our accounting functions while delivering actionable, strategic financial insights directly to executive leadership to guide operational and business decisions.

Essential Responsibilities

General Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll coordination.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes; prepare journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Produce accurate financial statements compliant with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Maintain and enhance internal financial controls, accounting policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinate with external CPAs, auditors, and tax professionals on corporate tax planning, filings, and reviews.

Payroll Administration and HR Coordination

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing to ensure accurate, timely compensation, deductions, and tax withholdings.
  • Partner closely with Human Resources on onboarding, salary adjustments, benefits deductions, and DCAA-compliant timekeeping.
  • Review and reconcile payroll reports, labor distribution entries, and general ledger postings.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors and payroll vendors on quarterly/annual payroll tax filings and compliance.

Government Contract Billing & Administration

  • Prepare, reconcile, and submit contract invoices via government platforms and commercial billing channels.
  • Monitor contract funding thresholds, period-of-performance dates, modifications, and accounts receivable collections.
  • Collaborate with managers to verify labor allocations, direct expenses, deliverables, and contract-level profitability.

Cost Accounting, Indirect Rates & DCAA Compliance

  • Develop, monitor, and analyze indirect cost pools and allocation bases (fringe, overhead, G&A) in compliance with FAR and CAS requirements.
  • Track direct vs. indirect cost classifications, perform rate variance analyses, and identify/segregate unallowable costs under FAR Part 31.
  • Develop and update provisional billing rates; support labor rate pricing models for new contract proposals.
  • Support government accounting reviews, audit inquiries, and rate agreement discussions.

ICE Model Development & Incurred Cost Proposals

  • Independently build and maintain the annual DCAA Incurred Cost Electronically (ICE) model and supporting workpapers.
  • Reconcile indirect cost pools, allocation bases, and claimed contract costs to the general ledger and financial statements.
  • Calculate final indirect rates, document variances from provisional rates, and support DCAA incurred cost audits through final closeout.

Financial Planning, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Lead the creation and maintenance of the annual operating budget and rolling cash-flow forecasts.
  • Deliver monthly budget-to-actual variance reports, identifying financial trends, cost drivers, risks, and growth opportunities.
  • Build dynamic financial models to assess the financial impact of business investments, staffing plans, and new contract awards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Government Contracting Accounting: 7+ years of accounting experience, with substantial, demonstrated experience operating inside a federal government contracting environment.
  • GAAP & Full-Cycle Accounting: Proven mastery of GAAP, general ledger management, month-end/year-end closes, and financial statement preparation.
  • Payroll & Timekeeping Administration: Direct experience managing or overseeing payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, and labor distribution within a DCAA-compliant timekeeping environment.
  • DCAA Compliance & ICE Submission: Direct, hands-on experience building DCAA ICE models, preparing incurred cost proposals, and supporting government audit procedures.
  • Indirect Rate Management: Demonstrated ability to establish, calculate, and monitor indirect rate structures (fringe, overhead, G&A) and evaluate rate variances.
  • Billing & Systems: Working knowledge of government billing systems, standard contract types (CPFF, T&M, FFP), and modern ERP/accounting platforms.
  • Financial Modeling & Excel: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., complex formulas, pivot tables, financial modeling, rate impact analysis).
  • FP&A & Cash Flow Management: Practical background in developing operating budgets, labor forecasting, and operational cash-flow projections.
  • Autonomous Execution & Integrity: Demonstrated ability to independently manage end-to-end accounting operations, meet critical regulatory deadlines, and handle sensitive fiscal data with total discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Unanet Experience: Hands-on experience utilizing Unanet ERP for GovCon project accounting, timekeeping, billing, and indirect cost rate management.
  • Proposal & Pricing Support: Experience establishing forward pricing rates, provisional billing rates, and cost volumes for federal proposals.
  • High-Growth/Tech Experience: Experience managing financial and accounting operations within a scaling technology, software, or defense engineering firm.
  • FAR/CAS Mastery: Deep familiarity with FAR Part 31 cost principles, CAS compliance, and DCAA accounting system requirements.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
