Ο&Μ M&A Specialist

Job Description

The Jobholder is responsible for leading and coordinating all O&M-related activities throughout the M&A transaction lifecycle, from initial screening and due diligence to valuation support and post-acquisition handover. The role acts as the single point of accountability and primary liaison between the O&M organization, M&A team, and external advisors.

The role oversees the O&M due diligence process, coordinating internal O&M functions (Technical, Operations, and the Asset Performance and Business Management teams) and external technical due diligence (TDD) advisors to ensure a comprehensive assessment of acquisition targets.

A key responsibility is challenge, review, and consolidate technical and operational due diligence findings, coordinate asset-specific OPEX assessments and forecasts, and ensure that key operational risks and cost assumptions are properly reflected in asset valuations and investment decisions.

The role also ensures the effective communication and handover of O&M-related findings, risks, and recommendations to the relevant O&M teams following acquisition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pre-Screening & Initial O&M Assessment: Perform preliminary O&M assessments of acquisition opportunities, identifying key operational considerations, potential red flags, and major cost drivers.
  • Due Diligence Preparation & Coordination: Coordinate the preparation and review of O&M-related RfPs and Information Request Lists (IRLs), define the due diligence scope, manage collaboration between internal O&M stakeholders and external TDD advisors.
  • O&M Due Diligence Management: Lead the overall O&M due diligence workstream, ensuring effective coordination of internal O&M teams and external TDD advisors, and timely delivery of required assessments.
  • Due Diligence Review & Risk Assessment: Review and challenge external TDD reports and internal assessments, consolidate O&M findings, identify key operational risks, and recommend mitigation measures to support investment decisions.
  • OPEX Due Diligence & Forecasting: Assess historical OPEX, challenge cost assumptions, and coordinate the development of asset-specific OPEX forecasts for valuation purposes.
  • Contractual & Commercial Assessment: Coordinate with the O&M Contracts Manager to assess existing O&M, OEM, and LTSA agreements, identify contractual risks, and ensure their financial implications are properly reflected in OPEX forecasts and asset valuation.
  • Transaction Support: Manage O&M-related information requests, coordinate responses to due diligence queries, and provide recommendations throughout the transaction process.
  • Post-Acquisition Integration: Coordinate the O&M handover of acquired assets, ensuring effective transfer of due diligence findings, OPEX assumptions, identified risks, and recommended actions to the relevant O&M teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in renewable energy operations, O&M, asset management, technical advisory, M&A, or a related field. Previous involvement in acquisitions or integration projects is an advantage.
  • Solid understanding of renewable energy operations, maintenance strategies, and asset lifecycle costs, preferably across wind, solar and/or BESS technologies.
  • Strong understanding of OPEX budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and financial modelling.
  • Ability to interpret technical assessments, operational data, and contractual documentation.
  • Experience in cross-functional coordination and project management.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with SAP and Power BI is an advantage.
  • Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
