Job Description

Purpose:

Coordinate and oversee the specs, design, procurement and operations of the Aerospace and Aviation Research Lab at the new Texas A&M Campus in Fort Worth. Assist with developing project timelines; getting quotes, communicating with vendors, overseeing delivery and installation of equipment, interacting with the finance team for payments and preparing reports for management. After the lab is completed, this individual will oversee the activation of the lab and the execution of the first few projects.

Responsibilities:

  • In coordination with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and supervisor, spec out a Digital Twins with AI agents and GPS-denied navigation lab.
  • Work with SMEs, supervisor, and vendors to design the lab layout.
  • Work with SMEs, supervisor, contracting, finance, vendors, and others to acquire the equipment and supplies needed.
  • Work with SMEs, supervisor, vendors, and others to install and check-out the needed equipment and supplies
  • Work with the building managers and safety team to make sure this lab adheres to all the applicable safety and security measures
  • Work independently to create status reports and briefs and financial execution updates.
  • Become familiar with the operation of the lab to perform tests and measurements with the equipment acquired
  • Be able to gather and process data for lab projects
  • Maintain safety and lab records (e.g. training, equipment maintenance, inventory)
  • Mentor students who work at the lab
  • Design schedule for lab usage
  • Performs related duties as required

What We Need:

  • Master’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six years of related experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Able to handle Controlled Unclassified Information, proprietary Information, and eligible for a security clearance.
  • In rare occasions, might have to work outside of normal working hours for deadlines

What Is Helpful:

  • MS or Ph.D. in aerospace, mechanical or electrical engineering are preferred but other engineering fields with relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience designing and activating aerospace facilities as well as knowledge of CAD programs like SolidWorks, Matlab, Python or a similar programming language.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills are needed to prepare reports, status presentations, and interact with vendors and potential funding sources.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
