Job Description

The Department of Curriculum & Instruction seeks to establish a pool of qualified applicants for potential employment in future Adjunct Instructor positions, for the 2026 – 2027 academic year, at Prairie View A&M University. This is a non-tenure track, part-time (less than 50 percent effort) position, and responsibilities are limited to teaching the courses listed in this posting.

What you need to know

Salary: Compensation is on a per-course basis and based on factors such as academic discipline, modality, faculty credentialing, etc. Minimum pay is $3,000.00 per section per semester.

Work Location: Prairie View A&M University campus and/or remote, depending on course assignment; online, hybrid, and face-to-face teaching may be required.

Selected applicants may teach up to 6 undergraduate/graduate semester credit hours in an assigned semester, within their verified area of expertise, as dictated by student demand in Spring 2027 or Summer 2027.

Consideration will be given to applications as curricular and student needs arise in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction. Adjunct positions are temporary appointments, assigned per semester, and on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach up to 6 undergraduate/graduate SCH per semester
  • Maintain and manage student records
  • Post grades (mid-term & final) in a timely manner
  • Submit attendance reporting
  • Mentor and assist students
  • Post and maintain office hours for a minimum of three (3) hours per week
  • Other duties as assigned by the department head

  • Undergraduate Level: Faculty teaching baccalaureate courses require a doctorate or master’s degree in the teaching discipline or master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
  • Graduate Level: Faculty teaching graduate and post-baccalaureate coursework require an earned doctorate/terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • K–12 classroom teaching experience and a state-issued educator teaching license/certificate are preferred, not required. Candidates without either qualification remain eligible for consideration if they meet the applicable university faculty credentialing requirements and demonstrate relevant disciplinary expertise.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks.

Special Instructions to Applicants

  • Candidates must identify each discipline for which they seek consideration and submit graduate transcripts showing qualifying coursework.
  • For undergraduate assignments under the master’s-plus-18 pathway, at least 18 graduate semester hours must be documented in EACH proposed teaching discipline; hours in one field do not automatically qualify an applicant for another. A relevant master’s/doctorate pathway may also qualify under the faculty credentialing requirements above. Graduate assignments require the doctorate/terminal-degree standard stated in this template. Final determinations are course-specific and subject to institutional credentialing review.
  • Additional Responsibilities and Teaching Expectations: Develop and deliver standards-aligned syllabi, assignments, assessments, and timely feedback; adhere to approved curriculum and program learning outcomes; Use the university learning management system to maintain an accessible, organized course and regular student communication; Integrate applicable TEKS, Texas educator preparation expectations, teacher certification content and pedagogy, and evidence-based instructional strategies; Document student progress and participate in required orientation, training, course coordination, and assessment reporting.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
