Texas A&M’s Biology Department is seeking a Research Program Associate I to support ongoing research programs by supplying, maintaining, and organizing laboratory equipment and resources. Under general supervision, this position will prepare research materials, assist with laboratory operations, and train teaching assistants on procedures related to ongoing research projects and experiments, helping to ensure the efficient and effective execution of research activities.
Opportunities to Contribute
- Supports daily laboratory operations, including staff support, quality control, maintenance of laboratory, computing, and research equipment, administration of lab software and behavioral acquisition systems, and management of supplies and resources.
- Ensures compliance with laboratory standards, safety protocols, and best practices to maintain an effective and safe research environment.
- Coordinates and supports research activities, including preparing, scheduling, and setting up research sessions, developing protocols, collaborating with researchers, and coordinating with IT support.
- Assists with research experiments, data collection, recordkeeping, analysis, and documentation of research findings.
- Supports laboratory organization and long-term operational planning efforts.
- Trains students and teaching assistants on laboratory protocols, procedures, and equipment use.
Qualifications
- High school graduation or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three years of experience in a research lab or office setting.
A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:
- Master’s degree in Biology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year of related working in a research or laboratory setting.
- Mechanical engineering research experience in a biological research laboratory setting.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools for data analysis and scientific computing.
- Prior experience in interdisciplinary research or working with biological systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with routine laboratory procedures, safety, regulations and equipment.
- Ability to accurately follow protocols.
- Ability to collaborate and work in teams.
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.
