The posting

Texas Capital is built to help businesses and their leaders. Our depth of knowledge and expertise allows us to bring the best of the big firms at a scale that works for our clients, with highly experienced bankers who truly invest in people’s success — today and tomorrow.

While we are rooted in core financial products, we are differentiated by our approach. Our bankers are seasoned financial experts who possess deep experience across a multitude of industries. Equally important, they bring commitment — investing the time and resources to understand our clients’ immediate needs, identify market opportunities and meet long-term objectives. At Texas Capital, we do more than build business success. We build long-lasting relationships.

Texas Capital provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, fertility and family building aids, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plans with a generous 401K match, paid leave programs, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).

Texas Capital is headquartered in Dallas with offices in Austin, Fort Worth, Houston, Richardson, Plano, San Antonio, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York. For more information about joining our team, please visit us at www.texascapital.com.

Overview:

We are transforming how we manage relationships with third party suppliers, particularly software and technology vendors. We are building a relationship-level operating model to improve operating leverage and client experiences while driving efficiencies across the organization. We aim to reduce redundant products and services, streamline our technology stack, and improve our management of vendors throughout the contract lifecycle.

A successful person in this role will be an exceptional, ambitious negotiator. The role requires someone with drive, excellent organizational skills, a passion for efficiency, and a strong dose of common sense and practical problem-solving ability. The supplier management and negotiation specialist that Texas Capital needs will be resourceful, communicative, dependable and skillful at interacting with teams across the firm. Above all, this person in this role will take ownership and get positive results.

Texas Capital’s legal department is a close-knit team that works together in a fast-paced professional environment. We have expertise in a wide array of legal fields and have decades of collective experience providing world class legal services in private law firms and in-house legal departments. We help each other strive for excellence and we are looking to add another valuable asset to our team.

Responsibilities:

Contract Negotiation and Ongoing Supplier Relationships Management

  • Partner with the procurement team to negotiate contracts, SLAs, uptimes, credits, discounts and other key terms with new and existing suppliers.
  • Proactively manage contract renewals, with plenty of advance notice for negotiations and competitive RFPs.
  • Work with the procurement team to aggressively hold suppliers to our high standards.
  • Coordinate with lines of business, procurement and technology teams to assess business needs.
  • Understand and assess the products and services provided by over 1,000 vendors.
  • Work with procurement and technology teams to build a system to manage vendors more effectively on a go-forward basis.
  • Bring an environment of competitiveness to Texas Capital’s solicitation and acceptance of bids from new vendors, and run effective RFP processes.
  • Demonstrate a passion for cost reduction and long-term value maximization.
  • Provide preemptive monitoring of the performance of suppliers.
  • Work closely with the procurement team and technology to implement an effective supplier relationship management program.
  • Demonstrate persistence and relentless determination in negotiations with suppliers.
  • Actively engage in every phase of the supplier lifecycle process.
  • Bring curiosity and willingness to learn Texas Capitals’ technology needs, the underlying economics of each transaction, and the connection between our technology and our ability to deliver great client experiences.
  • Partner with procurement to re-define inherent risk classifications of vendors, taking into account criticality, annual spend, the nature of products and services provided, and our risk exposure.
  • Exercise judgment in applying appropriate governance intensity based on vendor criticality, while maintaining efficiency.

Qualifications

  • JD, LLM or equivalent experience with 3+ years working with software and technology suppliers and negotiating software-focused agreements will be strongly considered.
  • Responsible, conscientious, well-organized, and comfortable owning systems of record rather than relying on ad-hoc email threads.
  • Takes ownership in coordinating across legal, compliance, and technology teams.
  • Demonstrates competence and ownership; finds ways to get things done.
  • Strong written communication: you can write concise emails and prepare logical, easy-to-understand business documentation packets.
  • Takes the initiative and executes with appropriate urgency in a high performing, client-focused, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Excellent listening skills and a team player who is hard-working and coachable.
  • Skillful at reducing friction and finding efficient, commercial solutions.
  • Demonstrated clarity in written and spoken expression.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail required to handle diverse and concurrent assignments.
  • Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
