Company Name: Texas Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company | Department: Claims   This position is responsible for investigating and resolving property claims in a fair, prompt, and efficient manner, according to company and Claims department policies and procedures.   MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY Investigate, evaluate, and settle designated property claims, applying technical knowledge and human relations skills to effect fair and prompt disposal of cases and to contribute to a reduced loss ratio. Advise the Property Manager and State Property Manager of Public Adjuster or Attorney involvement and develop a strategy of successfully resolving the claim. Recognize the need for experts, including those from within or outside the company, and report that to the Property Manager, the State Property Manager, or to the Senior Property Claims Specialist responsible for working the Property Claims Specialist’s assigned territory. Assist in other areas as needed due to storms, vacations and overloads. Participate on the catastrophe team for all types of storm events. Confirm status of policy and coverage with agency force. Answer calls and complaints promptly. Submit reports on each assigned claim to the Property Manager in a timely manner. Immediately advise the Property Manager of new lawsuits and assist the Litigation Department in preparation of each case for defense. Report property losses to the Regional Claims office with recommended reserves. Recognize property claims that need referring to the Special Investigation unit. Investigate and make payments to fire departments within established procedures. Adjust reserves or provide reserve recommendations to ensure that reserve activities are consistent with company policies. Investigate and submit coverage questions and Agent’s error and omission claims to Property Manager. Enter claim payments, reserves, and new property claims into computer system, using concise yet sufficient file documentation. Resolve designated property claims using high service oriented file handling. Complete and forward Claims department report to Underwriting. Verify and analyze data used in settling claims to ensure that claims are valid and that settlements are made according to company practices and procedures. Submit monthly expense reports, monthly telephone bills, and other reports, as requested. Contact or interview employees, experts, law enforcement and others deemed necessary to gain additional information regarding property claims. Participate in training programs identified and as needed. Achieve company standards, follow Claims procedures, and adhere to Claims department standards. Assist the Claim Representatives and Senior Claims Representatives in the area in evaluating and settling their assigned property claims. Properly care for and maintain company equipment including car, cell phone, computer, etc. Comply with the Certified Fleet Operator requirements of the Company Driving and Safety Policy. Other duties as assigned.   MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS   Four year degree from an accredited college or university.  All lines Adjuster license from the Texas Department of Insurance, maintained according to the licensing requirements set forth by the state of Texas. Acceptable credit rating. Basic knowledge of company computer applications, including the internet. Extensive knowledge of the property estimating software used by the company. Effective interpersonal verbal skills, both face-to-face and over the phone. Ability to plan, organize, and complete detailed work independently or in a team environment. Subject to relocation. Valid Texas driver’s license and driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation, or disqualify the employee from Certified Fleet Operator Status under the company Driving and Safety Policy.   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS   Repeated use of PC, telephone, and office machines. Extended periods of sitting and concentrating. Regular bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, and reaching in an office or field environment. Physical activities, including lifting, carrying, and using a 35-pound ladder, as well as climbing on roofs. Ability to climb a ladder and access roofs for visual examination and measurement.   WORKING CONDITIONS   Occasional long, irregular work hours. Travel, including overnight travel, as required. Work to be conducted in office environment owned or leased by company.
