Lead Diesel Technician

$27-$30/hour DOE

Summary:

The Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing the daily performance of the maintenance shop and is responsible for supporting operational staff and driver needs in a timely and effective manner. The ideal candidate has strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, deep knowledge of diesel systems, and the ability to lead by example in a fast-paced maintenance environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure shop floor operations are running smoothly and drive maintenance priorities in coordination and support of the maintenance management team.
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on tractor-trailers and fleet vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, and electrical systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections to ensure vehicle safety and reliability.
  • Execute annual vehicle inspections in accordance with CFR 49, Part 396; ensuring compliance with federal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation of work performed
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Knowledge and Experience

  • 2+ years verifiable experience in a repair facility or a 2-year degree from an accredited school and one year verifiable experience preferred.
  • HS diploma, GED

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb throughout the workday
