This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Care Services based in the United States.

As Director, Care Services, you will lead the delivery and continuous improvement of programs that support individuals living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), their families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. You will help translate strategic priorities into impactful services that improve access to care and enhance quality of life. Working closely with internal teams, clinical partners, and community organizations, you will strengthen professional relationships and expand access to essential resources across the western United States. You will oversee a multidisciplinary team of care professionals, ensuring high standards of service delivery, operational consistency, and professional development. This leadership role combines strategic planning, program evaluation, budget oversight, and hands-on consultation in complex care situations. You will contribute to a collaborative, mission-driven environment dedicated to advancing care, empowering communities, and improving outcomes for people affected by ALS.

Accountabilities

  • Strategic Planning and Program Implementation: Translate organizational care priorities into operational plans and initiatives aligned with regional needs. Collaborate with senior leadership and territory stakeholders to implement, monitor, and adapt programs and services.
  • Care Services Oversight: Support care professionals in managing complex situations and, when appropriate, participate in clinical visits and provide consultations to individuals living with ALS and their caregivers.
  • Quality Assurance and Service Standards: Ensure care delivery policies, procedures, and practices meet established professional standards and promote consistent, high-quality support for individuals, families, caregivers, and community partners.
  • Program Development and Improvement: Evaluate existing care programs, identify service gaps, recommend improvements, and contribute to the development of new initiatives that respond to evolving community needs.
  • Partnership and Resource Development: Establish and maintain strategic relationships with healthcare providers, clinical institutions, community organizations, and professional stakeholders to strengthen service delivery and expand access to resources.
  • Clinical Relationship Management: Maintain strong partnerships with multidisciplinary ALS clinics, neurologists, and clinic coordinators through regular review meetings and ongoing collaboration with care services leadership.
  • Education and Professional Development: Develop and deliver educational sessions and professional in-service programs for internal staff and external healthcare professionals, including home health and hospice agencies, durable medical equipment providers, and skilled nursing facilities.
  • Operational Coordination and Data Management: Promote consistent use of databases, case files, and information systems across territories. Coordinate with resource and referral teams to ensure accurate information about available services and support.
  • Team Leadership and Supervision: Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and develop a team of licensed professionals and care services support personnel. Establish clear responsibilities, delegate assignments, monitor performance, and address workplace concerns in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Budget and Grant Management: Oversee assigned program budgets, monitor expenditures, support financial planning, and assist with the administration of local and state grants.
  • Continuous Learning and Professional Engagement: Participate in relevant conferences, workshops, and continuing education opportunities to remain informed about developments in ALS care, healthcare delivery, and community support services.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. A master's degree is preferred.
  • Leadership Experience: At least five years of progressive leadership experience in a nonprofit environment, ideally involving healthcare, patient services, community programs, or mission-driven service delivery.
  • Healthcare and ALS Knowledge: Experience working with individuals living with motor neuron diseases and familiarity with healthcare systems, clinical services, or complex care coordination are preferred.
  • Supervisory Experience: Demonstrated experience leading and managing nursing professionals, allied health practitioners, administrative personnel, or other multidisciplinary teams.
  • Program and Operational Management: Ability to implement strategic plans, assess program effectiveness, manage competing priorities, oversee budgets, and recommend data-informed improvements.
  • Communication and Relationship Building: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with healthcare professionals, community partners, internal stakeholders, and families navigating complex care needs.
  • Leadership and Delegation: Strong people-management skills, including the ability to delegate effectively, establish clear expectations, empower team members, provide constructive feedback, and recognize performance.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to synthesize complex information, evaluate data, identify operational challenges, develop practical solutions, and make sound decisions in sensitive or emotionally challenging situations.
  • Adaptability and Initiative: Comfortable managing changing priorities, navigating unexpected challenges, and taking ownership of decisions while maintaining a high standard of service.
  • Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, project management software, accounting systems, contract management platforms, human resources systems, payroll tools, development software, and video conferencing applications such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
  • Collaboration and Professionalism: A compassionate, resourceful, and collaborative approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement, inclusive leadership, and services that respect the needs of individuals and families.
  • Travel Availability: Ability to travel for organizational business as required, including occasional visits to clinical facilities, offices, hotels, and partner locations. A valid driver's license may be relevant to travel requirements.
  • Competitive Compensation: Annual salary range of $69,293–$92,990, with the final range determined by the candidate's primary work location, relevant experience, qualifications, responsibilities, and other job-related factors.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
