Job Title: Head, Fundraising and Institutional Development

Location: Delhi, India

Position: Full-time

About A-PAG: Air Pollution Action Group (A-PAG) was set up in 2019 by Ashish Dhawan (Founder and Chairperson, Ashoka University and Central Square Foundation), Vijay Chadda (previously CEO of Bharti Foundation) and Mohit Beotra (previously Chief Brand Officer of Airtel). A-PAG is a past member of the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and adjoining regions. A-PAG is focused on strategic implementation of solutions to combat air pollution and has created a niche for itself within the broader ecosystem in the last 2 years. A-PAG works with the Government on a pro-bono basis; we have made significant progress with programs at the National as well as State level. Some of our projects are as follows:

1. In Delhi, we are engaged with the Municipal Corporation on a massive program aimed at dispersed sources. This covers all ~250 wards across the city. 2. In Uttar Pradesh (UP) we have programs running in 11 cities across the state. 3. As part of our program with Bihar State Pollution Control Board (BPSCB), we are active in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gayaji & Biharsharif. 4. In Haryana, we work in Gurgaon & Faridabad in partnership with the Municipal Corporation. 5. We have recently launched programs in AP and Odisha. 6. We have a PMU based at the Central Pollution Control Board, which is helping drive the effectiveness of the National Clean Air Program (NCAP).

We are currently 50 people strong with teams in 20 cities. A-PAG is an FCRA registered organisation with the ability to receive both domestic and foreign funding. This enables us to work with a diverse set of partners and mobilise resources to scale high-impact programmes across India.

About the role:

The Head of Fundraising and Partnerships will be responsible for building A-PAG’s brand profile among key funder audiences CSR foundations, UHNIs, domestic and international philanthropic organizations, and other ecosystem stakeholders.

The role will drive the fundraising strategy, set and achieve fundraising targets aligned with A-PAG’s current and future requirements, and manage the entire donor lifecycle from engagement to stewardship. The role will support the CEO in high-level fundraising meetings and, over time, independently close deals and build strategic donor partnerships.

The person in this role should ideally have an affinity for the social sector or be willing to develop it. He/she will be responsible for setting and achieving independent fundraising targets for A-PAG and must develop a comprehensive strategy to execute on this.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Brand Building and Outreach:

  • Create strong awareness of A-PAG’s mission and projects among target audiences.
  • Develop a powerful brand narrative tailored to CSR, UHNIs, and philanthropic communities.
  • Build and leverage a network of influencers, advisors, and champions.

2. Fundraising Strategy and Execution:

  • Set annual and multi-year fundraising targets based on A-PAG’s fund requirements and growth plans.
  • Build and manage a strong pipeline of donors.
  • Lead initial engagements and position the CEO for closure meetings with high-value donors.

3. Donor Engagement and Stewardship:

  • Represent A-PAG externally, pitch to prospective funders, and manage key relationships.
  • Ensure timely, high-quality donor reporting, updates, and stewardship activities.
  • Organize field visits and engagement activities for donors.

4. Partnerships and Relationship Management:

  • Develop strategic, long-term partnerships beyond one-time funding.
  • Manage agreements, MoUs, and pledges with funders.
  • Maintain active engagement with existing funders to secure renewals and upsells.

5. Collaboration and Internal Alignment:

  • Work closely with the CEO, Strategic Communications, Program Management, and Policy teams to align fundraising messaging with organizational priorities.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on fundraising pipeline, donor feedback, and cash flow impact.

The Ideal Candidate:

Education: Master’s degree from a reputed institution in business, public policy, environmental studies, education, or a related field.

Experience: 1520 years in professional service environments (consulting, business development, partnerships, fundraising) with a strong focus on client relationship management and service delivery.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Keenness to engage in fundraising as a core part of the role and organizational growth.
  • Extremely articulate and confident speaker with high-quality English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with unwavering determination, persistence, and self-sufficiency.
  • Exceptional networking and relationship-building capabilities across diverse stakeholders, including UHNIs, CSR heads, and senior leaders.
  • Intellectually curious, well-read, able to hold meaningful conversations with leaders across sectors.
  • Trustworthy, relatable, and capable of quickly building credibility and rapport.
  • Enjoys meeting new people and traveling extensively for relationship-building.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
