Position Overview:

The Director of Athlete Marketing will lead the development and execution of marketing opportunities for The Familie’s athletes, with a primary focus on football and opportunities to support other sports verticals. This role is responsible for securing brand partnerships, generating endorsement revenue, and building long-term commercial value for clients.

Working closely with agents, business development, client services, and creative teams, this individual will own partnership development from prospecting and pitching through deal execution and renewal, while guiding athlete brand positioning and campaign strategy. This is a hands-on, client-facing role requiring established football marketing experience, strong brand relationships, and a proven ability to turn opportunities into revenue. The role reports directly to the EVP of Brand Strategy.

Responsibilities:

Brand Partnerships & Revenue Generation

  • Identify, pursue, and secure paid brand partnerships, endorsements, appearances, and other marketing opportunities for football clients and select athletes across other sports.
  • Build and maintain relationships with brands, agencies, and decision-makers to develop a consistent pipeline of opportunities.
  • Lead outreach, develop tailored proposals, and pitch athlete partnerships that align with client goals and brand objectives.
  • Work with agents and legal teams to negotiate commercial terms and advance opportunities through agreement execution.
  • Drive partnership renewals and expanded relationships, tracking pipeline activity, deal progress, and revenue against established goals.

Athlete Marketing & Brand Development

  • Develop marketing plans that reflect each athlete’s interests, audience, career stage, and long-term brand positioning.
  • Partner with athletes and agents to shape compelling narratives and identify categories and brands that fit each client.
  • Guide content and social strategy with creative and digital teams to strengthen athlete visibility and partnership appeal.
  • Identify timely opportunities around the season, drafts, major events, and athlete milestones.

Campaign Strategy & Partnership Execution

  • Lead campaign planning and oversee execution with client services, creative teams, athletes, and brand partners.
  • Align campaign concepts, content, timelines, and approvals with athlete positioning and partner objectives.
  • Partner with client services to ensure contractual deliverables are fulfilled and proactively address execution risks.
  • Evaluate campaign performance and develop recaps that demonstrate partner value and inform future opportunities.

Cross Functional Collaboration & Market Insights

  • Coordinate with agents and internal teams to align athlete marketing priorities and share partnership opportunities across sports verticals.
  • Support prospective athlete meetings with marketing strategies, partnership insights, and presentation materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of outreach, proposals, deals, and campaign results within internal systems.
  • Monitor football, sports marketing, and consumer trends to identify new revenue opportunities and inform client strategy.
  • Provide regular updates to the VP of Brand Strategy on pipeline performance, client priorities, and partnership results.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 5–8+ years of experience in athlete marketing, sports marketing, brand partnerships, or talent representation, with direct football marketing experience required.
  • Proven track record of securing paid athlete partnerships and generating endorsement or sponsorship revenue.
  • Established relationships with brands and agencies, with a strong understanding of the football marketing landscape.
  • Experience developing proposals, pitching partnerships, and negotiating commercial terms in collaboration with agents and legal teams.
  • Strong understanding of athlete branding, social media, content strategy, and campaign execution.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with athletes, agents, and brand partners while exercising discretion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple clients, opportunities, and deadlines independently.
  • Collaborative work style and ability to lead projects across internal teams and external partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Google Suite and CRM or project management platforms.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
