About The Role

Staff Supervision

  • Supervise the maintenance, custodial and cleaning staff at the Main Campus, including daily assignments, shift schedules, and day, evening and weekend coverage.
  • Approve staff timesheets and PTO requests, and submit payroll information to Fedcap by the established deadlines.
  • Hire, train, coach and discipline department employees and conduct annual employee appraisals.

Cleanliness, Maintenance & Repairs

  • Establish cleaning standards, schedules and checklists for classrooms, shops, kitchens, restrooms, offices and common areas, and inspect completed work against them.

  • Maintain a work-order system to log, prioritize, assign and close maintenance and repair requests from staff and Program Department Heads.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, boilers, sprinklers) and for instructional shop equipment and ventilation, including welding fume extraction, automotive lifts, compressors and kitchen hoods.
  • Monitor facility conditions and inspect facilities on a routine schedule to ensure safety and loss prevention, identifying and addressing maintenance, safety and repair needs.
  • Conduct and document quarterly safety inspections of classrooms, shops, kitchens, hallways and offices, including compliance with state and local fire and building codes, and track corrective actions to completion.
  • Maintain all outdoor spaces including landscaping, walkways, and snow removal.

Vendors & Contractors

  • Check every delivery against the purchase order and packing slip for item, quantity and condition; document shortages, damages and incorrect items, and contact the vendor to resolve them.
  • Forward signed packing slips and receiving discrepancies to the Operations Manager so receipts can be recorded in Oracle and invoices matched.
  • Ensure received items are labeled and put away in designated, secured storage locations, and keep storerooms organized, safe and accessible.
  • Manage the retrieval and issue of stored items to departments through a request-and-issue process that follows the inventory SOPs, prioritizing requests by operational need and recording every issue.
  • Maintain inventory controls, including restricted storeroom access, sign-out logs and periodic cycle counts reconciled to inventory records; report variances to the Operations Manager and flag items at reorder levels to the requesting department.
  • Coordinate outgoing shipments, including packing, carrier pickup, tracking and shipping records.

Building Compliance & Violations

  • Manage all FDNY, DOB, ECB/OATH, DEP, DSNY and DOH violations and summonses from receipt to close-out, including responses, hearings, correcting conditions, and filing certificates of correction.

  • Maintain a compliance calendar of required inspections, permits and certificates (fire alarm, sprinkler and standpipe, fire extinguishers, elevator, boiler, backflow prevention, kitchen hood suppression, Certificate of Occupancy and Place of Assembly) and ensure renewals are filed on time.
  • Ensure all FDNY Certificates of Fitness required on site are held by designated staff, current, posted and renewed, with required coverage maintained during all hours of operation.
  • Oversee the fire alarm system and its central station monitoring connection to FDNY, including testing, inspections, logbooks, trouble and false alarm response, and vendor service.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
