  • Company LC Development Services, LLC.
  • Department Land Development
  • Reports To Director, Construction (Trevor Arnold)
  • Wage Category Exempt

Who We Are

At Lifestyle Communities (LC), we take deliberate action every day to nurture a culture grounded in our purpose — to Build a Connection™. Whether you’re behind the bar, in the kitchen, or on the floor, your work helps create spaces where people come together, connect, and belong.

We are guided by our core values — Performance, Quality, Communication, Teamwork, and Leadership — and fueled by our commitment to excellence. At LC, you’ll find your “why,” your place to belong, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact.

The Team You Will Join

At LC, we look at each development with a sense of purpose. Lifestyle Communities’ (LC) Land Development team leads the nation in planning communities that bring people together and enrich neighborhoods — and every successful community starts with a solid foundation. You’ll join a dynamic, talented team responsible for taking our communities from raw land through horizontal construction, operating at the forefront of our commitment to creating participation-driven communities. Across urban and suburban product types — including commercial, social, and residential spaces — this team ensures that our vision is never lost in the final product. As a Field Engineer I, you are the team’s eyes and technical presence in the field, learning the business of building from the ground up.

Who You Are

As a Field Engineer I, you provide on-site technical oversight and engineering support that keeps LC’s land development and construction projects moving On Time, On Budget, On Brand, and On NOI. Working under the direction of the Director, Construction and alongside project managers and superintendents, you monitor land development progress, conduct daily site inspections, and help ensure the work in the field matches the approved plans, designs, and specifications. This is an entry-level, development-track role built for a recent graduate who wants to learn development and construction from the field up and grow toward field leadership. You are detail-oriented, coachable, and comfortable spending your day on an active job site.

The Difference You Will Make

  • Provide on-site technical oversight and field support across LC’s land development and construction projects, serving as a field resource to the land management team.
  • Conduct daily site inspections and monitor land development progress to ensure work complies with schedule, budget, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Verify that field work is executed in accordance with approved plans, designs, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Follow established quality control procedures and inspection protocols; identify and document deviations and support corrective action.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues that arise on-site and coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and supervisors to develop and implement solutions with minimal disruption to the project schedule.
  • Review specifications and plan documents; support the RFI (Request for Information) process and submittal tracking.
  • Read and interpret design and construction drawings and diagrams to support field verification and quantity tracking.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, and inspection records, along with a comprehensive photo and data log of field activity.
  • Prepare project assessment reports and regularly update project status to site managers and the Director of Construction.
  • Attend project and site meetings to provide technical input and present recommendations to improve land development processes.
  • Monitor site safety practices and support compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Utilize construction management software to record, track, and report field data.
  • Support the achievement of LC’s Zero Defects standard: On Time, On Budget, On Brand, and On NOI.
  • Invest deeply in the growth and success of self and others through LC’s five leadership behaviors: Humility, Caring, Curiosity, Courage, and Grit.
  • Additional duties as assigned and directed.

What You’ll Bring

  • A foundational understanding of the design and construction process, including construction means and methods.
  • The ability to read and interpret design and construction blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of construction site inspection, quality inspection, and construction site safety practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with sound technical troubleshooting judgment in a field environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare accurate reports and documentation.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, changing jobsite environment, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in (or the ability to quickly learn) construction management software, and proficiency in Google Docs, Google Sheets, MS Office, and virtual meeting platforms.
  • A collaborative, coachable approach with the drive to grow and develop toward field leadership.

Direct Reports and Reporting Relationship

This role has no direct reports. The Field Engineer I reports to the Director, Construction and partners closely across the Land Development, Development, Construction, and Finance teams, as well as with external architects, engineers, consultants, and general contractors. The ability to achieve results across these relationships, regardless of the reporting relationship, is a critical success factor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, construction science or a related discipline.
  • Zero to two (0–2) years of relevant experience; internship or co-op experience in construction, civil, or land development is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of construction site inspection, contract compliance, field engineering, quality inspection, and reading blueprints and diagrams.
  • Familiarity with construction management software preferred.
  • Must be able to work on and travel to active construction and land development sites.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to project sites are required.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
