The posting
Company Description
The client is a Dubai-based real estate and hospitality developer building the next generation of intelligent, technology-enabled living spaces. Its developments combine smart home systems, robotics and agentic AI to deliver a seamless, personalised experience for every resident. The client’s vision places wellness, longevity and technology at the centre of modern residential and commercial communities. The team is growing rapidly and is looking for engineers who want to shape how AI operates in the physical world.
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Deployment Engineer to lead the rollout and lifecycle management of the client’s smart home and robotics technology stack. This is a high-impact role focused on Scalability, Reproducibility and Reliability.
You will deploy the client’s infrastructure across complex, multi-floor residential buildings, commercial gyms and spas. The challenge is scale: systems are deployed across hundreds of units, yet each tenant must enjoy a private, perfectly configured experience. You will build the systems that make the technology “plug-and-play” at scale, ensuring every device is monitored, maintainable and capable of self-reporting its health.
Key Responsibilities
1. Scalable Infrastructure Deployment
- Design and execute the deployment of the server stack across multi-floor residential buildings and commercial facilities (gyms, spas).
- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) so that every deployment is reproducible, consistent and easily updated.
- Implement Per-Tenant Isolation: architect the configuration logic so that each residential unit has its own secure, private instance of the smart home “brain.”
2. Configuration & Orchestration
- Automate the configuration of hundreds of IoT devices, sensors and robotic units during onboarding.
- Manage complex networking requirements for large-scale buildings, ensuring stable connectivity between local servers, cloud backends and end-user devices.
- Develop “Zero-Touch” provisioning workflows to minimise manual intervention during site installations.
3. Telemetry & Rapid Response
- Build and maintain a high-level Telemetry Dashboard to monitor the health of all deployed systems in real time.
- Implement automated alerting to detect hardware failures, network drops or “agentic” logic errors before the customer notices them.
- Develop rapid-response protocols to troubleshoot and resolve issues remotely across distributed locations.
4. Automated Maintenance & Lifecycle Management
- Create automated Maintenance Reporting systems that track the lifecycle of consumables (e.g. smart bulbs, filters, batteries).
- Develop proactive Maintenance Alerts for facility managers (e.g. notifying a gym manager that 10% of the smart lighting units are nearing end-of-life).
- Ensure all systems receive regular, automated over-the-air (OTA) updates and security patches.
Requirements
Technical Requirements
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible or Pulumi (Expert)
- Containerisation: Docker, Kubernetes (K3s/MicroK8s for edge deployment)
- Networking: VLAN Tagging, VPNs (WireGuard/Tailscale), Subnetting, Wi-Fi 6 Architecture
- Scripting & Automation: Python (Expert), Bash, Go
- IoT Protocols: MQTT, Zigbee, Z-Wave, Matter, ESPHome
- Monitoring & Logging: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack or InfluxDB
- Cloud & Edge: AWS/Azure (backend); Proxmox or similar for local edge compute
Preferred Qualifications
- Multi-Tenant Architecture: Proven ability to manage isolated environments for different users on shared infrastructure.
- Large-Scale Rollout Experience: History of deploying IoT or smart home technology in commercial real estate or large residential complexes.
- SRE Mindset: A passion for automation, uptime and building systems that “heal” themselves.
- Hardware Familiarity: Understanding of how physical devices (bulbs, switches, robots) interact with network protocols.
What We Value
- Portfolio Focus: Candidates who can demonstrate a project involving automated infrastructure deployment (e.g. “I deployed 50+ nodes using Ansible/Terraform”).
- Scalability Focus: Someone who hates doing the same task twice. If it can be automated, it should be.
- Reliability First: In a residential building, “it works most of the time” is not good enough. We need an engineer who builds for 99.9% uptime and proactive maintenance.
Why This Role
You will be the architect of the client’s physical footprint. You are not just installing devices; you are building the industrial-grade backbone that allows Agentic AI to live in the real world. You will solve some of the most complex at-scale problems in the smart home industry, turning a manual installation process into a streamlined, automated powerhouse.
