We are seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our Data Team within HIMCO IT. This role is critical in partnering with technology and investment professionals to deliver innovative solutions that meet dynamic information and automation needs. You will build systems & supply data that empower Portfolio Managers, Traders, and Analysts to make informed investment and financial decisions.

As a Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and building HIMCO’s next-generation enterprise data platform, a strategic initiative that will provide a secure, scalable, and AI-ready foundation for data delivery, analytics, reporting, and business operations across the firm.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, develop, and enhance a modern enterprise data platform that enables scalable, reliable, and secure access to data across HIMCO
  • Build and support data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and delivery solutions that power critical business processes and decision-making
  • Develop APIs, services, web applications, and automation solutions that integrate seamlessly with the data platform ecosystem
  • Collaborate with business partners, data engineers, architects, and application development teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Integrate internal and third-party data sources while ensuring data quality, governance, and operational excellence
  • Apply software engineering best practices, including object-oriented design, automated testing, CI/CD, cloud technologies, and AI-assisted development tools
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and help shape the future direction of HIMCO's data and technology capabilities

You'll work on high-visibility initiatives, leverage modern technologies, and help establish the foundation for HIMCO's future data strategy.

Key Responsibilities Develop a strong understanding of the investment industry and related business processes Participate in project planning, clarify requirements, and engage with clients and analysts Design, develop, and maintain applications following disciplined software development practices Implement quality assurance principles and ensure solutions meet business needs Provide ongoing maintenance and support for applications Assist in building of new data platform (database, ETL processing, event driven solutions)

Requirements Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases 3+ years of experience developing systems with .NET, C# Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline

Preferred Qualifications Experience integrating and supporting vendor systems Exposure to investment domain Familiarity with ETL tools AWS cloud implementation experience Python development experience

Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

This is a Hybrid role. Candidates who live near one of our locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$88,000 - $132,000
