The Holy Brook School is a specialist community special school in Reading supporting primary-aged pupils (5–11 years) who experience Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many of our wonderful pupils are neurodivergent, including those with autism (ASD) and ADHD. Our goal is to create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where children can emotionally regulate, build confidence, and truly thrive.

The Role This role is working 5 days per week, term time only + INSET days, and would be well suited for someone passionate about supporting children’s learning and wellbeing within a friendly school community.

Our curriculum places emphasis on play based learning, child development theory & practical, child-centred care and would also be ideal for NNEB or CACHE level 3 Diploma in childcare qualification holders. We are looking for a caring, energetic, and resilient Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated and welcoming team. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to deliver tailored support and help pupils engage positively with their learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEN and SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Assist the class teacher with learning activities and resource preparation.
  • Help maintain a calm, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage emotional regulation, communication, and social independence.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with our pupils.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Someone who has a good understanding of child development.
  • Has experience of working with children, ideally with SEN.
  • Has experience of organising play activities to help children learn.
  • Who is patient, calm, nurturing, and adaptable.
  • Who has good basic skills in English and Maths.
  • Who can work well independently and as part of a team.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.
