Marsh Risk Early Career Program, Summer Intern 2027 – ICG

We are seeking talented individuals to join our Marsh Early Career Program Summer Internship, part of our Risk business at Marsh, within the ICG (Insurer Consulting Group) team. This role will be based in New York with an anticipated start in June 2027. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Join Marsh's Early Career Program as a Summer Intern, a 10-week experience where interns will work directly with senior advisors and brokers to help clients identify risks to their people, property, or financial and strategic goals, offering hands-on experience in risk management and insurance broking. As part of our program benefits, you will have a vibrant cohort community and dedicated program team to provide learning and development opportunities, a mentorship program, exposure to senior leaders, and valuable networking opportunities. You’ll end your internship with a summer capstone presentation, giving you the opportunity to apply what you’ve learned and present your work to your team and senior leadership.

Within Marsh Risk, the Brokerage Practice is integral in helping clients manage and reduce risks in real-world scenarios like medical pandemics, music festival liabilities, and financial scandals. You'll collaborate with clients to assess risks, build relationships with insurance companies, and secure competitive insurance quotes using your negotiation skills, making a significant impact in helping clients minimize their overall risk costs in today's world.

Upon completing the summer internship, exceptional juniors may be offered an offer to join our full-time program at Marsh.

The Team

ICG works to strengthen and grow account relationships, acting as a liaison between carriers, internal teams, clients, and vendors. They ensure quality services are delivered and that clients and carriers are satisfied, working to retain and grow these important relationships. Colleagues develop subject matter expertise and make an impact as influential individual contributors by managing large-scale strategic projects and solving complex problems.

We will count on you to:

  • Build relationships and develop understanding of ICG's business throughout Marsh and with insurance carriers.
  • Develop fluency in company, carrier products, and operations to enhance work quality.
  • Conduct research and analysis on client businesses, industry trends, and market developments to inform team and client discussions.
  • Collaborate with brokers and teams to support communication and coordination with clients, carriers, and internal partners.
  • Support day-to-day projects while building knowledge of insurance markets, client service, and risk management.
  • Participate in team meetings, client discussions, and learning opportunities to gain exposure to insurance broking.
  • Contribute to special projects and team initiatives throughout the internship.

What you need to have:

  • Graduation date between Fall 2027 and Spring 2028
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Liberal Arts, Finance, Risk Management and Insurance, or another Business-related major
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills to collaborate effectively across teams and drive data-informed decision-making
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships with people from different backgrounds and perspectives
  • Legal work authorization to work in the U.S on a permanent and ongoing basis without the need for sponsorship now or in the future, in other words, you must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Green Card holder at the time of application

What makes you stand out?

  • Client or customer focused mindset with the ability to build relationships internally and externally
  • Comfortable collaborating in team environments while also taking ownership of individual responsibilities
  • Strong interest and basic understanding of risk management and insurance

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
