The posting

About the Role

The June is seeking a polished, welcoming Host to serve as the first and last impression of our dining spaces. This role is responsible for greeting members and guests with warmth, managing reservations and seating, and setting the pace of the dining room so that every table feels cared for. As the face of the restaurant, the Host plays an important part in the member experience, from the moment someone walks through the door until they leave.

The ideal candidate is gracious, organized, and eager to learn, with a strong sense of urgency and a genuine interest in hospitality. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in front-of-house service within a new and growing hospitality concept.

Key Responsibilities

Welcome & Guest Experience

  • Greet every member and guest warmly and promptly, learn and use names, and note preferences so that no member has to introduce themselves twice.
  • Answer the phone and respond to inquiries with professionalism, providing accurate information about the restaurant, hours, menus, and the club.
  • Offer thoughtful hospitality to guests with special needs or occasions, including assisting guests with disabilities and communicating accessibility needs to the team.
  • Handle waits, requests, and concerns with grace and honesty, and bring in a manager when appropriate.
  • Say a warm goodbye to every member and guest, and thank them for visiting.

Reservations & Seating

  • Manage reservations, walk-ins, and waitlists using the Company’s reservation and seating system, keeping information accurate and up to date.
  • Seat guests in a balanced rotation that respects server sections, table pacing, and kitchen capacity, in coordination with the Maître d’ or manager.
  • Quote wait times accurately, and communicate delays and changes clearly to guests and the team.
  • Pass along guest notes, allergies, celebrations, and member preferences to servers and managers before seating.
  • Support service for private events, buyouts, and special programming as assigned.

Front-of-House Operations

  • Keep the host stand, entry, and waiting areas clean, organized, and presentable at all times.
  • Provide menus, assist with coat and bag handling where offered, and make sure guests know where to find restrooms and other areas of the building.
  • Communicate regularly with servers, runners, bussers, and bartenders about table status, turnover, and flow.
  • Support opening and closing procedures, including setup, checklists, and resetting the entry.
  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and security procedures, and report concerns to a manager promptly.

Teamwork & Professionalism

  • Work collaboratively with the entire front-of-house and kitchen team to keep service moving.
  • Maintain a calm, positive, and solutions-oriented approach, especially during high-volume periods.
  • Receive feedback constructively and look for opportunities to learn and grow within the front-of-house team.
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, respect, and high standards across The June.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a host, reservationist, front desk associate, or in a similar hospitality role preferred, though we are happy to train the right person.
  • Warm, confident communication skills, both in person and over the phone.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask calmly under pressure.
  • Comfort learning reservation, point-of-sale, and other restaurant technology.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Current food safety certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
  • A proactive, team-first mindset and willingness to jump in wherever support is needed.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in fine dining, hotels, or private clubs.
  • Familiarity with reservation platforms and guest or member management systems.
  • Interest in growing into a server, Maître d’, or other front-of-house leadership role.
  • Experience supporting a restaurant opening or pre-opening training program.

At The June, hospitality begins at the door. We’re looking for someone who makes every member feel recognized, sets the tone for the whole experience, and takes pride in a seamless welcome.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
