Salary Range: $62,000 - $89,000 depending on experience

This posting covers HR Generalist opportunities with manufacturers based in and around Petoskey in Emmet County, within about 45 minutes of the city, including Harbor Springs, Boyne City, Charlevoix, and East Jordan.

The Opportunity

We work with companies in the Petoskey area that add HR Generalists to their teams. These organizations value quality over speed in hiring. By connecting with us, you position yourself for opportunities that align with what you're looking for.

Usual Responsibilities

  • Assist with employee relations matters, investigations, and documentation.
  • Administer attendance tracking, leave of absence requests, and FMLA paperwork.
  • Support safety program administration and incident reporting.
  • Help prepare HR metrics and reports for plant leadership.
  • Serve as first point of contact for employee questions about policies, benefits, and payroll.
  • Support recruiting for hourly production and skilled trades roles, including screening and scheduling interviews.
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding, orientation, and required pre-employment checks.
  • Maintain employee records and HRIS data entry with accuracy and confidentiality.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work on site across multiple shifts.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or related field.
  • to 4 years of HR experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment law.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and timekeeping software.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with hourly workforce recruiting and high-volume hiring.
  • Familiarity with OSHA recordkeeping and safety compliance.
  • Prior experience in union or non-union production environments.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.
