The Opportunity

We are working with companies in Whitehall that are adding Tool and Die Makers to their teams. These organizations value quality over speed in hiring. By connecting with us, you position yourself for opportunities that align with what you're looking for.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build new tools, dies, and fixtures.
  • Repair and maintain existing tooling to ensure production continuity.
  • Operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine tooling requirements.
  • Perform precision measurements using instruments like micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production staff to improve tooling designs and efficiency.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship program in Tool and Die Making or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in the setup, operation, and maintenance of manual and CNC machining equipment
  • Proficient in interpreting blueprints, schews, and engineering specifications
  • Strong knowledge of metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and material properties
  • Experience with precision measurement tools and quality control procedures
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex tooling and die issues independently

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam) for design and programming
  • Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machinery (e.g., mills, lathes, EDM)
  • Demonstrated ability to perform advanced metrology and inspection using tools like CMMs or optical comparators
  • Experience with heat treatment processes and material science related to tool steels
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification/experience for process optimization
