Job Description

Project: Eastwood Development Location: IAMGOLD at the Westwood Mine Rotation: 7 day on, 7 day off or possibilities 14 day on, 14 day off Shift Length: 12 hours Allowance: Will be provided based on location Travel: Will be provided based on location Benefits: Redpath offers comprehensive benefits including but not limited to health, dental and vision care, life insurance, pension and employee assistance program Pre-employment requirement: Drug Test

Requirements: FMTM (Formation Modulaire du Québec) or equivalent (Ontario Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core) Valid driver's license General Explosives Permit

Mechanic

The primary role of the Mechanic is to perform preventive maintenance and repairs to diesel, electrical, hydraulic and air operated equipment. This includes mobile equipment hoists, compressors, drills, small tools and miscellaneous equipment of a similar nature.

Requirement and Work Experience

  • Journeyman level qualification (trade school or college diploma) – (preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years underground mechanical experience

Responsibilities

Health and Safety:

  • Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
  • Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions
  • Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.
  • Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.
  • Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area.

  • Maclean Bolter
  • Toyota miller
  • Redpoint & Oracle Fusion
  • Ability to understand work from ladder flowcharts, schematics, sketches and wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to utilize and create excel spreadsheets, word documents and adobe reader
  • Government Regulations and interval testing for; Fire Suppression, 5 gas analysis, NDT, pressure
  • Respectful of cultural differences
