The posting
Location: Cape Town Salary: R16,000 per month Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (UK business hours)
About the role
Our client is a UK-based business consultancy that helps manufacturers and industrial businesses improve their supply chains, operations and growth strategy. Their clients mainly work in automotive, aerospace, energy, FMCG and food & beverage.
Our client is looking for a cold calling sales representative to generate leads from companies that want to buy consultancy services and learn how the business can help them. You will phone senior decision-makers at UK companies and book qualified introductory meetings with the company’s founder. You will research prospects, start conversations, handle objections and keep a clean pipeline. You will not be closing deals. Your job is to get the right people into a meeting.
What you’ll do
- Qualify prospects based on business needs, company size, turnover and decision-making authority
- Make outbound calls to Operations Directors, COOs, Heads of Manufacturing and similar senior roles at mid-size and large UK businesses
- Book 8 or more qualified meetings per month
- Build and research call lists using LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Cognism, Kaspr, Apollo, Lush or similar tools
- Follow up calls with short, well-written emails, LinkedIn messages and links to relevant industry publications
- Log every activity and report weekly on dials, conversations, meetings and show-up rates
- Keep track of who you have called, who wants a meeting, who has asked for a call back later (and call them back), and who has asked not to be contacted again
- Give feedback on messaging, target sectors and the objections you hear
- Book introductory meetings for interested prospects using Calendly (access provided)
What we’re looking for
- 4+ years in outbound B2B cold calling, appointment setting or SDR work
- Experience calling UK businesses (essential) and senior-level buyers (strongly preferred)
- Excellent spoken and written English, with a clear, professional and confident phone manner
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Experience selling services, consultancy or other intangible offerings (not physical products) is a strong plus
- Familiarity with manufacturing, engineering or industrial sectors is a bonus
- Good knowledge of your own numbers: dial-to-conversation and conversation-to-meeting ratios
- Organised and self-motivated, able to work independently without supervision
- Comfortable with CRM and sales prospecting tools
