The posting

We are seeking a technically competent and hands-on Assistant IT Systems Manager to support the development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of our IT systems and applications.

The successful candidate must possess strong programming and coding capabilities, practical experience in application development and systems integration, and the ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.

This is a hands-on technical position requiring active involvement in software development, troubleshooting, system enhancements and IT project implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, programme, test, implement and maintain web-based applications, mobile applications and internal IT systems.
  • Support the development and enhancement of online Member Portal and other digital services.
  • Develop and maintain WordPress-based applications and related integrations.
  • Develop and enhance applications using tools such as Python, PHP, JavaScript, Node.js, MySQL, HTML and CSS.
  • Develop and maintain secure system connections, using softwares such as REST APIs, JWT and OAuth 2.0 for authentication and authorisation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes through programming, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications, system designs and practical solutions.
  • Assist in managing IT projects, including procurement, vendor coordination, data migration, system implementation, testing, commissioning and post go-live support.
  • Prepare and execute user acceptance testing (UAT), technical documentation, user guides and standard operating procedures.
  • Troubleshoot application and system issues, perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective measures.
  • Support cybersecurity, data protection, IT audit and business continuity activities.
  • Assist the IT Systems Manager in overseeing daily IT operations and system maintenance.
  • Cover the duties of the IT Project Manager when he is not available.
  • Ad-hoc operational duties may be required subject to business contingency.

Minimum Job Requirements

Academic Qualifications

  • Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A relevant bachelor's degree will be an advantage.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant working experience in software development, application programming, systems integration or IT systems implementation.
  • Proven hands-on experience in developing, deploying, maintaining and troubleshooting software applications.
  • Experience in working with databases, APIs and web-based systems.
  • Experience in IT project implementation, user acceptance testing and vendor coordination.

Mandatory Technical Competencies

Coding and programming proficiency is mandatory. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their ability to write, review, debug and maintain application code independently. Candidate must be comfortable with the working with softwares such as the following technologies:

  • Programming: Python, PHP, JavaScript and Node.js.
  • Web Development: HTML, CSS and WordPress.
  • Database: MySQL, including database queries and integration.
  • Systems Integration: REST APIs, JWT and OAuth 2.0.
  • Automation: Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications and Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
  • Application Development: Development, implementation, maintenance and support of web-based and/or native mobile applications.

Other Competencies

  • Good analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity, secure application development and data protection.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare technical documentation and project reports.
