About the role

Our automated fulfilment operation relies on great people, technology and processes working together. As Flow Room Section Manager, you’ll lead the team responsible for keeping product flowing smoothly through the operation, maximising system availability and helping the site deliver its operational KPIs.

Reporting to the Senior Flow Room Operations Manager, you’ll manage and develop a small team of Flow Room technicians and be part of the fulfilment centre management team. You’ll sit at the heart of the operation, bringing Operations, Engineering and other teams together to resolve issues, improve performance and keep things moving.

Key Responsibilities:

This is a leadership role with a strong technical and operational focus. You’ll use system and performance data to understand what’s happening across the operation, anticipate potential issues and make decisions that improve flow and efficiency.

You’ll:

  • Lead, coach and develop your Flow Room team, creating an inclusive environment where people can perform at their best.
  • Maximise system availability and efficiency by managing workflow, downtime, maintenance requirements and system parameters.
  • Use performance data to identify opportunities, solve problems and provide clear insight to the leadership team.
  • Work closely with Operations and Engineering to prioritise activity and deliver site volumes efficiently.
  • Optimise storage and conveyor utilisation while continually looking for opportunities to improve processes and productivity.
  • Take ownership of operational escalations, ensuring faults and unexpected system behaviour reach the right teams quickly and accurately.
  • Drive continuous improvement, strong process adherence and effective communication across shifts and teams.

About you

We’re looking for someone who understands automated fulfilment and can combine that technical knowledge with confident, supportive leadership.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Experience leading a control room team within an automated fulfilment centre.
  • A detailed understanding of warehouse control systems and automated fulfilment operations.
  • Strong leadership, delegation and communication skills.
  • Experience leading teams in a 24/7 operation.
  • Experience working with major system upgrades across the supply chain.
  • The ability to build effective partnerships with automation and systems providers.
  • An understanding of Operational Excellence or Continuous Improvement approaches.
  • Experience of KNAPP automation would be particularly useful, while project management experience is desirable rather than essential.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
