The Job

Our Sous Chef is a passionate and hands-on leader who supports the Head Chef in delivering the high culinary standards Maison CouCou is known for. They lead by example, inspire the kitchen team, and ensure every dish is prepared with consistency, quality, and attention to detail. Responsibilities

  • Help in the preparation and design of all food and drinks menus
  • Produce high quality plates both design and taste wise
  • Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality standards
  • Fill in for our Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary
  • Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation
  • Manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule and assess staff’s performance
  • Order supplies to stock inventory appropriately
  • Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety procedures, HACCP standards, and industry best practices
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to support and motivate a kitchen team
  • Solid understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, kitchen equipment, and operational procedures
  • Passion for cooking, with exceptional attention to detail, consistency, and quality
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to learn, multitask, and adapt to changing kitchen demands
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency
  • Willingness to learn, develop new skills, and contribute to menu innovation.
  • Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and public holidays
  • Located in or nearby Gibraltar
  • Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus
