Job Description

Join Us as a Programmer Analyst: Make an Impact at the Forefront of Innovation

As a Programmer Analyst, you will perform bioinformatics programming activities that support the statistical and computational needs of research projects. You will work as part of a study team under the direction of a lead programmer and contribute to the delivery of reliable clinical research data and outputs.

What You’ll Do

  • Complete programming tasks assigned by study project leads. This may include creating, running, maintaining, and validating programs that transfer data between data management systems or operating systems; combine data from different sources and structures; generate summary data and reports; and produce or validate listings, tables, and figures using SAS and established tools and processes.
  • Prepare and analyze clinical trial patient datasets, including laboratory, vital signs, tumor response, imaging, quality of life and well-being questionnaire, and adverse event data.
  • Work with researchers and multidisciplinary project teams to understand project needs, analyze problems, and recommend technology-based solutions and computational approaches.
  • Develop customized code that uses existing tools and applications to produce or validate outputs for clinical bioinformatics and technical use.
  • Serve as the programming lead on studies of simple to moderate complexity, delivering lead programmer tasks and responsibilities.
  • Build understanding of the lead programmer’s role in the study process. Under close supervision, you may lead simple to moderately complex projects.
  • Follow departmental working practice documents and standard operating procedures, and contribute to informal training materials.
  • Continue developing your programming, technology, clinical trial, and pharmaceutical industry knowledge by working with mentors, attending presentations and teaching events, and contributing to departmental documents and policies.

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in computer science, statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, or a related field; or a bachelor’s degree in one of these fields, or an equivalent degree, with relevant formal academic or vocational qualifications.
  • At least 4 years of end-to-end SDTM experience, including programming, and delivery of SDTM datasets.
  • Relevant experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the role.

Years of experience refer to the typical experience needed to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the role’s essential functions. Experience is not the sole factor in determining job level or making employment decisions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Solid understanding of one or more programming languages.
  • Solid understanding of relational database structures and complex data systems.
  • Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in English.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple assignments with challenging timelines.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well with others.
  • Initiative and motivation.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Working Conditions and Environment

  • Work is performed in an office environment, with exposure to electrical office equipment.
  • Occasional driving to site locations and occasional domestic or international travel may be required.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
