Job Description
When you’re part of the team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you’ll do work that truly matters—empowering scientists to uncover cures for cancer, protect the environment, and ensure food safety. Your impact is real, tangible, and backed by a global organization committed to helping you accelerate your career. The Applied Biosystems division is the backbone of all genetic labs and continues to expand.
How Will You Make an Impact?
Ready to run point on the market strategy for our core genetic analysis portfolios? In this high-visibility role, you’ll be the strategic force behind our industry-leading real-time PCR (qPCR), digital PCR (dPCR), capillary electrophoresis (CE/Sanger sequencing), and high-throughput consumable platforms across North America.
We are looking for someone who bridges the gap between deep scientific execution and commercial growth. You’ll take complex market dynamics, customer workflows, and technical insights, turning them into sharp regional strategies that drive adoption and cement our market leadership.
What Will You Do?
- Own the Strategy: Drive the end-to-end North American market development strategy and regional growth plan for qPCR, dPCR, and CE instruments, consumables, and assay attachments.
- Translate Insights to Action: Synthesize customer workflows, competitive positioning, and market shifts into actionable growth priorities and high-impact product recommendations.
- Build Business Cases: Construct robust, data-driven business cases to secure regional investment and prioritize high-opportunity segments.
- Shape Global Roadmaps: Serve as the definitive voice of the North American market in global strategy sessions—partnering with product management to influence roadmaps, messaging, and launches.
- Drive Segment Growth: Target key markets—from biopharma discovery and cell & gene therapy to oncology liquid biopsy and inherited disease research—with precision programs that accelerate adoption.
- Partner with Commercial Leaders: Work shoulder-to-shoulder with our sales leadership and field application teams, equipping them with the technical narratives, insights, and tools needed to win.
- Measure What Matters: Set clear success metrics for regional initiatives, managing ROI across demand generation, promotional revenue, and marketing-attributed growth.
- Direct Regional Campaigns: Oversee regional campaigns from concept to execution, partnering with marketing operations to optimize performance continuously.
- Manage Budget & Roadmap: Maintain oversight of the regional market development budget, communicating milestones, risks, and strategic opportunities to key stakeholders.
How Will You Get Here?
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Biology, or a related life sciences discipline. An advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) is a strong plus.
Experience & Attributes
- 5+ years of commercial impact: Proven experience in life sciences marketing, product marketing, market development, or related commercial roles in genomics or molecular diagnostics.
- Scientific fluency & business acumen: The ability to translate complex technical assay parameters and customer workflows into compelling, high-stakes commercial strategies. Knowing how our products are used in the market is a must and will be considered standard knowledge.
- Matrix leadership & influence: Exceptional ability to build alignment across regional and global cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Technical foundation (Preferred): Prior hands-on laboratory experience, field application science, or commercial sales background in genetic analysis technologies (qPCR, dPCR, CE, or NGS).
- Proactive & adaptable: A self-starter mentality with the resilience and agility to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Travel: Willingness to travel up to 25% across North America for key internal and customer-facing events.
