Job Description

Join the team behind the software that thousands of UK accountancy practices rely on every day to run their firms, serve their clients and meet their compliance obligations. As a Product Manager, you'll shape the roadmap for products that sit at the heart of practice life, using the latest AI tools to move from idea to validated prototype, faster than traditional product management allows. This is a chance to make a visible difference to how accountants work, in a team that treats AI as part of its everyday toolkit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision and roadmap balancing customer needs, regulatory change and commercial priorities into a clear, evidence-based plan.
  • Turn customer problems into well-defined solutions, using AI tools to draft and refine PRDs, then breaking them into Epics, Features and User Stories that scrum teams can deliver with confidence.
  • Prototype early and often, using Claude Code or similar tools to build working prototypes that test ideas with customers and stakeholders before significant engineering investment is made.
  • Work in partnership with engineering and design to prioritize the backlog, clarify requirements and remove blockers, so valuable releases reach customers predictably.
  • Listen to customers and use data to decide, running discovery with accountants and practice staff and drawing on usage analytics and support insight to measure whether what we ship delivers real outcomes.
  • Keep stakeholders informed and aligned, communicating progress, trade-offs and decisions clearly to senior leaders, sales, support and customer-facing teams.
  • Help raise the team's AI capability, sharing effective prompts, workflows and lessons learned so that AI-assisted product practice becomes the norm across the team.

Required Qualifications

Education and experience

  • Degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 -9 years of proven experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner in a software product environment, delivering in an agile/scrum setting.
  • Demonstrable experience of writing PRDs and decomposing them into Epics, Features and User Stories with clear acceptance criteria.

Technical skills and tools

  • AI tools for product work (such as Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot) for drafting requirements, analysis and synthesis.
  • Prototyping with Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development tools.
  • Backlog management tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira.
  • Product analytics or customer feedback tools such as Pendo.

Core competencies

  • Customer focus: Seeks out real user problems and keeps them central to decisions.
  • Structured, clear communication: Writes precise requirements and explains trade-offs simply to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Prioritization and judgement: Makes sound decisions with incomplete information and can say no with good reasons.
  • Curiosity and adaptability: Learns new tools and domains quickly and adopts better ways of working.
  • Collaboration and ownership: Builds trust with engineers and stakeholders and follows through on commitments.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience

  • Experience of the UK accountancy software market.
  • Experience of working in or alongside an accountancy practice.
  • Familiarity with UK compliance-driven products, such as practice management, workflow or document management.
  • Experience of API development.

Technical skills and tools

  • Advanced use of AI in the product lifecycle, such as building reusable prompts, skills or agent workflows.
  • Comfortable building prototypes.
  • Experience creating product visuals, process maps or user flows.

Additional qualities

  • A track record of introducing AI-assisted ways of working to a team and helping colleagues adopt them.
  • Experience of discovery work with customers, including interviews, usability testing and feedback loops.
  • Ability to work with a degree of ambiguity in a growing, changing product portfolio.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
