About Throne

Throne is a fast growing Series C startup transforming local communities by delivering clean, safe, accessible restrooms to cities, transit agencies, and public spaces. With flagship customers in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, Ann Arbor, and Washington DC, and recent launches in New York City, Atlanta, and Seattle, we're rapidly scaling into new markets in 2027 and beyond.

We recognize an unspoken problem: that better bathroom accommodations are sorely needed in most cities. Public and retail bathrooms are neither positioned to meet demand, nor incentivized to provide the quality experience people deserve.

Our mission is to provide peace of mind to the millions of people who set out on an adventure on any given day. That adventure may be big or small. It may involve taking your toddler to the park, driving a stranger to the airport, running a half marathon, or exploring a new city for the first time.

About the Job

Throne is seeking an experienced Technical Manager, Market Operations to lead our field technician team for the Los Angeles market. This is a full-time, salaried/exempt people-first management role: you will own the day-to-day performance and development of a team of 15-20 hourly field technicians, ensuring 70+ Thrones deployed across the LA market are installed, maintained, and repaired to the highest standards. You will report directly to the LA Market General Manager, and will work in close partnership with the local Operations Manager who oversees cleaning and facility operations for the market. Additionally, your role will include critical coordination with our Central Technical Operations team to address local issues and drive improvements to the product, processes and training program.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in engineering or technical operations management, a track record of leading similar sized field service teams, and the operational experience to build scalable processes across a growing, multi-site market.

The base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000. Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's applicable experience, skills, and geographic location. Full-time roles are also eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including stock options.

Primary Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Development

  • Directly manage, mentor, and develop a team of 15-20 field technicians across the LA market.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, set clear goals, and provide ongoing coaching to support technician growth.
  • Lead onboarding and training for new technicians, ensuring adherence to national standards and local market requirements.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement across a larger, distributed team.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues that arise in the field.
  • Structure the team (leads, zones, or shifts) as needed to effectively manage an asset fleet and team across the Los Angeles metro area.

Operations Management

  • Own the end-to-end technical field service operations for 70+ Thrones across the LA market, including scheduling, workload prioritization, and technician deployment.
  • Ensure all repair and maintenance tickets are created, assigned, and resolved in accordance with defined SLAs and best practices.
  • Manage inventory of parts, tools, and supplies at the scale required to support 70+ active field assets, maintaining appropriate on-hand levels and overseeing reorder processes.
  • Create and execute plans for the proper upkeep of all workspaces, tools, and equipment.
  • Track and report on key operational metrics (e.g., resolution times, uptime, technician utilization) to the Market General Manager.
  • Lead deployments of new Throne units as the market grows/scales, with 70+ units already live and continued expansion expected.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Partner closely with the local Operations Manager (cleaning and facility operations) to ensure seamless coordination between technical maintenance and day-to-day facility upkeep across all units.
  • Partner with software, engineering, design, and central tech ops teams to provide structured field feedback that drives product improvements.
  • Translate field learnings into documented processes and technical knowledge base contributions.
  • Execute centrally defined training programs, ensuring cross-national compliance and standardization within the LA market.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including documentation of repairs, replacements, and inspections.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and proactively propose process improvements, particularly as they relate to managing a larger fleet and team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A track record of managing and developing technician or field service teams, with 3+ years of experience supervising teams of 10 or more; experience managing distributed or multi-site field teams is a strong plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, or a related field preferred, or significant professional management experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems sufficient to guide technicians, review technical diagnoses, and analyze complex technical diagrams and schematics; deep hands-on trade experience is a plus but not required for candidates with strong people-management backgrounds.
  • Operational experience overseeing field activities such as maintenance and sanitation, including workforce scheduling and route optimization across a large service area.
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining operational workflows, specifically around ticketing and inventory management.
  • Strong diagnostic judgment to identify root causes and guide technicians toward sustainable solutions for recurring technical challenges.
  • Superior interpersonal abilities to guide a larger team and coordinate effectively with cross-functional partners, including the local Operations Manager.
  • The ability to remain agile and productive within a high-growth, fast-paced startup environment.
  • Willingness to support the market during weekends or non-standard hours as needed.
  • Valid driver's license with a history of safe driving.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior hands-on experience in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing trades.
  • Experience scaling a field service operation in a startup or high-growth environment.
  • Certification or license in plumbing, electrical work, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in the IoT, robotics, hardware, or connected-devices industry, or in tech-enabled field operations more broadly.
  • Prior experience in the portable sanitation, facilities management, or infrastructure industry.
  • California or LA-specific trade or construction knowledge.
  • General familiarity with OSHA safety training and workplace safety standards.

Benefits:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with medical options that are 100% employer-paid
  • Equity for all US-based positions, so you share in Throne’s growth
  • Daily access to earned wages
  • 401(k) plan
  • Paid time off that grows with tenure, in addition to paid sick time and paid parental leave
  • Life insurance, AD&D coverage, and short and long-term disability insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Benefits offered to full-time and part-time employees may vary by State.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
