Global E-commerce is a discovery-driven e-commerce business, working to become a destination for users to discover and buy good products at affordable prices. We build a shopping experience that feels tailored to each user, and a platform merchants can rely on across live and short-video commerce.

The European E-commerce team expands that business into Europe and other new markets. We work with product and operations teams to set goals and develop independent product functions, and with global R&D teams to build the systems European businesses run on.

Building from the ground up is literal here. New markets need independent product functions and systems from day one, including global multi-data center scheduling, stability governance, and disaster recovery. You will own products and systems from the start, shaping how TikTok Shop launches and grows in new markets.

  • Responsible for the overall architecture and design of medium to large-scale complex systems, including but not limited to business systems such as sellers, products, partners, operation platforms, and creators & affiliates.
  • Responsible for the abstraction of business logic and architecture design of relevant systems, capable of designing scalable system and business architectures based on business characteristics and industry best practices.
  • Responsible for the stability engineering of relevant systems, including global multi-data center scheduling, stability governance, loss prevention and control, disaster recovery and degradation strategies.
  • Provide guidance to engineers at all levels, set and achieve team goals, and lead the team to consistently deliver high-quality results.
  • Familiar with relevant systems and business domains, attentive to business data, able to deeply understand business pain points, research industry solutions, formulate medium to long term technical strategies, and drive implementation with persistence to achieve tangible results.

Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Programming & System Analysis, Science (Computer Studies) or related discipline. - 2+ years managing or leading a software engineering team. - 5+ years of large scale backend system development experience. - Proficient coding skills with expertise in at least one programming language such as Java, Golang, or C++. - Familiar with commonly used middleware technologies, such as message queues, caching systems, and scheduled tasks, with a solid understanding of their underlying principles. - Led the development and architectural design of medium to large scale complex business systems, with experience in designing for high concurrency and high availability. - Proven experience in leading teams to achieve outstanding results, with well-developed insights into team management and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications - Prior experience in e-commerce systems, or B2B system development. - Strong technical architecture capabilities, with the ability to define, analyse, and solve complex problems effectively.
