Fullstack Software Engineer, Global E-commerce User Growth

The User Growth team drives TikTok Shop's growth by acquiring, activating, retaining, and referring customers to expand Gross Merchandise Value (GMV). The team optimizes conversion, reduces acquisition costs, and enhances customer lifetime value using data-driven strategies and machine learning, while collaborating across teams to refine growth tactics through experimentation and market analysis.

Responsibilities: - Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems and features that support user acquisition, activation, engagement, and retention. - Contribute to technical initiatives from design and implementation through testing, launch, monitoring, and continuous optimization, while ensuring system scalability, reliability, performance, and engineering quality. - Collaborate closely with product managers and cross-functional partners to translate growth strategies and experimentation needs into reliable technical solutions, and contribute to technical design and architecture decisions. - Develop data and insights capabilities that support analysis of user behavior, growth performance, campaign effectiveness, and product opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. - 3+ years of software development experience, with experience building scalable and reliable backend systems and working knowledge of frontend development. - Proficiency in one or more backend programming languages, such as Java, Python, Go, or Node.js, and familiarity with modern frontend technologies. - Experience with API design and development, including REST or GraphQL, microservices architecture, and frontend-backend integration. - Experience with testing infrastructure, frameworks, or automated testing systems. - Basic experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and familiarity with validating AI-generated code or solutions. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and work effectively across functions.

Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in user growth, E-commerce, monetization, advertising, or other data-driven consumer products. - Experience contributing to technical initiatives from 0 to 1 or scaling existing systems and products. - Experience building AI agents, agentic workflows, or AI-powered engineering/product solutions. - Experience collaborating effectively with globally distributed engineering and cross-functional teams across multiple time zones.
