Working for Suscom Industries

Suscom is a growing, family-owned business that manufactures office furniture components using injection moulding processes. Its production team works in a hands-on manufacturing environment, producing, inspecting and packaging components to meet required standards.

As an apprentice, you'll join a small team in a busy manufacturing environment, gaining hands-on experience and learning how the injection moulding process works from start to finish. You'll develop practical and technical skills while supporting day-to-day production and working closely with experienced colleagues. As you grow in the role, you'll have the opportunity to develop your understanding of the machinery and wider production operations, with the longer-term aim of gaining the skills needed to run a production shift.

🔗 About Company

Please note: You must be 18+ due to the nature of the working environment.

The Package

  • Salary: Up to £25,000 (depending on experience and suitability)
  • Annual leave: 18 days plus bank holidays
  • Working hours: 12-hour shifts, Monday - Thursday, day or night shifts
  • Company pension scheme
  • Regular training and CPD opportunities
  • Free parking

Key Responsibilities

This is a physically active, hands-on role where you'll get involved in a variety of production and technical tasks, including:

  • Support the manufacture and packaging of office furniture components in an injection moulding environment
  • Learn how injection moulding machines operate, including machine settings and production processes
  • Develop an understanding of tool changes, material changes and colour changes
  • Gain experience with robotics and other equipment used in the injection moulding process
  • Learn how to troubleshoot machine issues and identify solutions to product problems under supervision
  • Develop an understanding of shift handovers and how to communicate important information to supervisors and colleagues
  • Build the technical knowledge and leadership skills needed to eventually take responsibility for running a production shift
  • Inspect finished components through visual and physical checks to ensure they meet quality standards
  • Carry out flash trimming to remove excess material from products where required
  • Complete hourly weight checks and record results
  • Package finished products according to the required specifications and standards
  • Use equipment such as pallet trucks, milling machines and pillar drills when required
  • Monitor and record scrap materials and report any production or quality issues to supervisors
  • Maintain clean, tidy and organised work areas to support efficient production
  • Follow company procedures, health and safety requirements and correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Carry out manual handling tasks, including lifting, moving and packing products and boxes
  • Work independently and as part of a small team, supporting colleagues and other areas of the business when needed

About You

You thrive in fast-paced, hands-on environments and prefer staying active rather than working at a desk. You enjoy practical work, are comfortable working around machinery and take pride in seeing the results of your hard work. You're confident, proactive and willing to get stuck in, whether that's supporting production, handling materials or helping your team keep things running smoothly. You have basic English, maths and IT skills, communicate well with others and are keen to develop your technical knowledge, confidence and leadership skills.

You follow instructions carefully and understand the importance of safety, quality and consistency. You have a good eye for detail, a strong work ethic and take pride in doing things properly. You're reliable, punctual and comfortable working shifts, including days or nights when required. You can stay focused during repetitive tasks and are happy with the physical nature of the role, including manual handling and spending long periods standing or sitting.

You learn best by watching and doing, building confidence through practical, hands-on experience. You're hardworking, motivated and passionate about doing a good job, with a positive attitude towards learning new skills. You're comfortable working independently but also enjoy being part of a small team, supporting colleagues and taking initiative when needed. Most importantly, you're keen to develop your technical skills and build a long-term career in manufacturing. You have a genuine interest in machinery, robotics and understanding how manufacturing processes work.

Please note: You must be 18+ due to the nature of the working environment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
