About the Role

This role conducts independent quality inspections, evaluations, and compliance assessments of mechanical systems installation, maintenance, repair, and testing activities. Interprets contractual requirements, technical specifications, drawings, and applicable codes and standards to verify mechanical work is performed in accordance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform systematic audits and evaluations of mechanical maintenance, repair, and installation activities to assess compliance with contractual requirements, technical specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Perform technical quality inspections and field evaluations of HVAC, plumbing, piping, pumps, boilers, and other mechanical systems work performed by technicians and subcontractors.
  • Interpret and apply applicable mechanical codes, technical standards, drawings, and specifications to determine compliance and identify deficiencies.
  • Evaluate installation, preventive maintenance, repair, inspection, and testing activities for adherence to contract requirements, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory standards.
  • Exercise independent judgment in determining acceptability of mechanical work and recommending corrective actions, rework, or escalation.
  • Analyze inspection findings, recurring deficiencies, work orders, and equipment performance data to identify trends, risks, and systemic issues.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports outlining deficiencies, compliance status, corrective actions, and recommended resolutions to the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of mechanical QA/QC procedures, inspection protocols, checklists, and compliance standards.
  • Utilize CMMS and related systems, including Maximo, to document inspections, track deficiencies, monitor corrective actions, and support data-driven quality decisions.
  • Provide technical guidance to mechanical technicians and project teams regarding specifications, workmanship standards, code requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, technicians, and subcontractors to resolve complex mechanical deficiencies and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Review and interpret contract documents, drawings, equipment specifications, submittals, and technical requirements to ensure mechanical work meets established standards.
  • Verify completed mechanical work and associated documentation are accurate, complete, and compliant with contractual and quality requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the level of technical expertise and independent judgment required.

What We're Looking For

  • Relevant mechanical trade certification, license, or equivalent technical qualification in HVAC, plumbing, piping, or related mechanical systems preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in quality control, mechanical systems, facilities maintenance, or construction oversight, with knowledge of ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 sampling standards.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable mechanical codes, industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory requirements, including relevant IMC, IPC, ASHRAE, and/or ASME standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret technical codes, contract requirements, and system designs independently.
  • Experience evaluating technician or subcontractor work and making recommendations impacting compliance and system acceptance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with work order systems such as Maximo preferred.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to maintain the ability to access the government worksite.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer or desk.
  • Frequent use of hands for typing, data entry, and handling paperwork.
  • This position is primarily performed in an office setting; however, regular site visits and field inspections are required.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate active work sites when necessary. This may include standing, walking, bending, or climbing for extended periods while wearing protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
