TONMYA® (cyclobenzaprine HCl sublingual tablets 2.8 mg) is the first new treatment for fibromyalgia in adults in more than 15 years. Tonix’s CNS commercial infrastructure supports its marketed products, including its acute migraine products, Zembrace® Symtouch® (sumatriptan injection 3 mg) and Tosymra® (sumatriptan nasal spray 10 mg). Tonix is investigating TONMYA® in Phase 2 clinical trials to evaluate its potential in major depressive disorder and acute stress disorder/acute stress reaction. Tonix is also advancing a pipeline of immunology programs, including TNX-4800, a Phase 2 ready long-acting human anti-Borrelia OspA monoclonal antibody (mAb) for the prevention of Lyme disease in the U.S., and TNX-1500, a Phase 2 ready third-generation CD40 ligand inhibitor for the prevention of kidney transplant rejection. Position Overview

Tonix Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Director, KOL Engagement to lead the development and execution of key opinion leader (KOL) engagement strategies supporting TONMYA® and the broader Tonix portfolio.

This role will lead the Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) team, strengthen relationships with key opinion leaders, and collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, and other cross-functional teams to drive engagement initiatives that align with brand priorities, support commercial objectives, and meet applicable compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

KOL Engagement & Thought Leader Leadership

  • Manage and coach a team of Thought Leader Liaisons (TLLs), supporting field execution, performance, and professional development.
  • Execute KOL identification, segmentation, prioritization, and engagement plans aligned with commercial objectives.
  • Build relationships with established and emerging thought leaders; coordinate advisory boards, executive engagements, and insight-generating forums.
  • Partner with Medical Affairs to coordinate external engagement while maintaining appropriate commercial and medical boundaries.
  • Capture and translate KOL and field insights into actionable brand and portfolio recommendations.

Speaker Programs & Professional Education

  • Manage peer-to-peer education and speaker bureau programs, including speaker selection, training, execution, and performance evaluation.
  • Oversee promotional and educational materials for speaker programs, KOL engagement, and other HCP-facing initiatives.
  • Use customer needs and program results to refine content, audiences, channels, and engagement approaches.
  • Partner with Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Legal, and Compliance to ensure scientific accuracy and compliant execution.

Congress Strategy & Commercial Engagement

  • Manage commercial planning and execution for priority medical congresses and professional meetings.
  • Develop and implement congress plans covering booth presence, HCP and KOL meetings, product theaters, speaker programs, and advisory boards.
  • Coordinate with Medical Affairs and cross-functional partners on a cohesive Tonix presence and incorporate congress insights into future plans.
  • Oversee external agencies and vendors supporting congress programs and execution.

Portfolio Strategy & Operational Leadership

  • Support professional engagement strategy for TONMYA® (cyclobenzaprine HCl sublingual tablets), approved for the treatment of fibromyalgia in adults, and prepare scalable programs for potential future indications and pipeline assets.
  • Partner across commercial and development functions to align KOL engagement, education, and congress priorities with brand and portfolio objectives.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, vendors, timelines, and resources; establish meaningful performance measures and report progress to leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, insights, and operational efficiency, including appropriate use of technology and AI-enabled tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree or MBA preferred.
  • At least 7 years of progressive pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare commercial experience, including relevant program leadership.
  • Experience leading teams or managing direct reports; ability to coach and develop field-based colleagues.
  • Significant experience in KOL engagement, HCP marketing, professional education, speaker programs, and/or congress strategy.
  • Experience building thought leader relationships and leading speaker bureaus, advisory boards, or peer-to-peer programs.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical promotional review and compliance requirements for HCP engagement.
  • Proven cross-functional leadership, strategic planning, program execution, and budget/vendor management skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, organization, and project management skills.
  • Experience in CNS, neuroscience, pain, psychiatry, or related therapeutic areas; fibromyalgia or chronic pain experience is highly desirable.
  • Product launch or early commercialization experience, including building or scaling KOL, TLL, speaker, education, or congress capabilities.
  • Experience supporting commercial products and pipeline assets in a growing pharmaceutical or biotechnology organization.
  • 25-40% travel required for medical congresses, KOL meetings, speaker programs, advisory boards, field meetings, and other customer-facing activities, including occasional weekends.

Salary Range

$180,000—$210,000 USD
