Position: Inventory Clerk II Location: Hickory, NC Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM Pay Rate: $25.35/hour

Summary Description

The Inventory Clerk II is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels and ensuring essential materials and supplies are available to support daily manufacturing operations. This position manages a wide range of inventory, including packaging materials, adhesives, pallets, labels, solvents, slitter blades, and other production supplies.

This role also supports purchasing, receiving, inventory counts, vendor coordination, production needs, and continuous improvement activities while ensuring materials are properly received, stored, tracked, and organized.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Maintain established minimum and maximum inventory levels for a wide range of production and operating supplies, including packaging materials, adhesives, pallets, labels, and other items.
  • Prepare and process purchase requisitions to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Conduct month-end inventory counts for multiple materials and supply categories.
  • Support cycle counts, annual physical inventory, inventory reconciliation, and cleanup activities.
  • Track and manage specialized inventory items, including solvents, adhesives, and slitter blades.
  • Monitor solvent tank levels and coordinate replenishment as needed.
  • Receive solvent deliveries, verify delivery accuracy, and track usage.
  • Maintain effective relationships with vendors and follow up on delivery delays, shortages, and other supply concerns.
  • Ensure materials are properly stored and organized according to established inventory practices.
  • Maintain appropriate First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory practices.
  • Coordinate inbound material deliveries and receiving activities.
  • Inspect incoming trailers and materials as required.
  • Accurately receive and enter materials into the ERP system.
  • Assist Production with material needs, including retrieving, staging, and wrapping materials.
  • Safely operate a forklift and handle production materials as required.
  • Support accurate inventory records and help identify and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Participate as a member of the Supply Chain Global Performance System (GPS) team.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory, material flow, and supply organization.
  • Work independently to resolve inventory and supply-related issues, escalating more complex concerns when necessary.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, or guidance to other team members as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • You have previous experience with inventory control, materials management, warehouse operations, or a related function.
  • You have forklift experience and can safely handle products and materials.
  • You have experience maintaining inventory counts and accurate inventory records.
  • You are comfortable working with purchasing, receiving, and inventory-management processes.
  • You have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • You can identify and resolve complex inventory or material-related issues and appropriately escalate concerns when needed.
  • You have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • You have comprehensive knowledge of inventory-control practices and material flow.
  • You can effectively communicate and maintain professional relationships with vendors, production teams, and other internal partners.
  • You have the ability to provide leadership, coaching, or mentoring to other team members when needed.
  • You are dependable and able to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
