The posting

Summary

The Trader Onboarding Analyst plays a critical foundational role within the Trust & Resilience organization, responsible for executing high-volume identity verification, initial document checks, and basic risk screening. Operating strictly within established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), this role serves as the first line of manual review for automated identity verification (IDV) exceptions and basic Sanctions alerts.

The Analyst will focus on core identity verification execution, clearing routine friction points in the onboarding funnel, validating baseline registration data, and ensuring basic trader onboarding functions are satisfied efficiently. When out-of-scope issues or elevated threats emerge, you will be responsible for accurately triaging and escalating these complex profiles to Senior or High-Risk Analysts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identity Verification & Exception Processing: Process entry-level queues for automated IDV failures (e.g., Government ID unreadability, Selfie mismatches, 2FA, Email/Phone verification errors) following detailed operating instructions and strict SOPs.
  • Initial Document Validation: Review and validate baseline registration data and standard identity/tax documentation. Ensure application completeness and accurately pass verified accounts forward in the onboarding funnel.
  • Triage & Escalation: Act as a crucial gatekeeper by identifying out-of-scope document issues, suspicious indicators, or elevated risk signals (e.g., complex biometric failures or suspected fraud). Formulate concise, accurate case notes and escalate these profiles to Senior/Lead Analysts.
  • Accurate Record Keeping & QA Adherence: Maintain precise and compliant documentation on all processed cases to support internal Quality Assurance (QA) audits and ensure all actions align with regulatory requirements.
  • Operational Feedback: Track common anomaly trends and provide on-the-ground feedback to Senior Analysts and Management regarding routine friction points or recurring system errors in the verification queues.

Required Qualifications and Key Competencies

  • Experience: 1-2 years of direct experience in digital customer operations, data verification, KYC/AML operations, or back-office compliance processing.
  • IDV Interface Competency: Familiarity with web-based operational tools and modern identity verification interfaces (such as Persona, Jumio, Veriff, or Onfido) with a foundational understanding of digital document checking.
  • Operational Discipline & SOP Execution: Strong operational rigor with a proven ability to consistently follow detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while maintaining accuracy in a high-volume environment.
  • Foundational Compliance Knowledge: Basic understanding of digital onboarding principles, standard KYC/CIP requirements, and data privacy best practices.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional visual and analytical attention to detail; able to swiftly identify discrepancies in documents, biometric outputs, or baseline registration data.
  • Clear Communication & Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to accurately document case notes, clearly summarize issues for escalation, and collaborate effectively within a remote team environment.

Company Culture & Perks

  • Topstep is an engaging working environment that ranges from fully remote to hybrid. We foster a culture of collaboration by keeping cameras on during meetings and maintaining a robust Slack environment for communication.

  • Vacations are encouraged with a bonus for taking 5 consecutive days. Topstep offers a food and groceries budget and contributes towards health and wellness.

  • $28.85 - $38.46 hourly.
  • The compensation offered will take into account the internal compensation structure and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
