Job Description

Your opportunity

As our valued Senior Finance BI Analyst, you will play a vital role in leading the design and delivery of Finance BI and analytics solutions, building and maintaining dashboards, performing deep-dive analysis, and ensuring stakeholders have accurate, timely and trusted information to support planning, forecasting and decision-making. The Senior Finance BI Analyst bridges the gap between Finance business needs and BI/data platforms such as Power BI and the underlying data warehouse, providing technical leadership and driving improvements in reporting, automation, data quality and governance. This role is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.

You'll make an impact by:

Data, Reporting & Dashboards

  • Lead the design, development and ongoing enhancement of Finance dashboards and reports in Power BI to a high standard of accuracy, usability, performance and scalability.
  • Respond to ad hoc data, insight and analysis requests from Finance, proactively prioritising demand and managing the delivery pipeline based on business value, urgency and strategic priorities.
  • Identify, lead and implement automation opportunities across recurring Finance reporting to reduce manual effort and improve reliability, consistency and turnaround time.
  • Develop and optimise SQL queries against the data warehouse, including Redshift, to extract, transform and validate Finance datasets.
  • Establish and promote BI development standards, reusable components and best practices to improve consistency and maintainability across Finance reporting.
  • Provide technical guidance, peer review and mentoring to other BI analysts, supporting capability uplift across the team.

Insights & Analysis

  • Perform variance, trend, cohort and driver-based analysis to explain financial performance and identify opportunities and risks.
  • Translate complex data into clear narratives, visualisations and actionable recommendations tailored to Finance and senior leadership audiences.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and month-end processes with timely, accurate data and analytical inputs.
  • Investigate reporting anomalies, conduct root-cause analysis and drive appropriate remediation and preventive actions, including resolution at the source where possible.
  • Proactively identify emerging trends, risks and opportunities within Finance data rather than relying solely on stakeholder-driven requests.
  • Partner with Finance leaders to translate commercial and financial questions into analytical approaches that support informed decision-making.

AI, Automation & Innovation

  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to apply AI and Generative AI to Finance BI, reporting, analysis and operational processes.
  • Use AI-enabled capabilities, including Microsoft Copilot and AI-assisted analytics, to improve productivity, insight generation, report development, documentation and analytical workflows.

Data Quality & Governance

  • Reconcile and validate data across source systems to ensure a single, trusted source of truth for Finance reporting.
  • Maintain clear documentation of data definitions, business logic, metrics and report specifications.
  • Apply data governance, security and access standards in line with organisational policy.
  • Take ownership of complex data quality and reporting issues, working with Finance, data platform teams and source-system owners to resolve root causes rather than implementing ongoing reporting workarounds.

Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

  • Build strong relationships with Finance, CoE and IT to understand requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Act as a trusted BI and analytics adviser to Finance stakeholders, providing guidance on reporting, data, analytics, automation and AI opportunities.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering, UAT and stakeholder sign-off for new and enhanced reporting.
  • Lead discussions with senior Finance, technology and data stakeholders to resolve complex reporting, data quality and delivery issues.
  • Provide user support, training and guidance to help Finance stakeholders self-serve where appropriate.
  • Mentor and support less-experienced analysts and contribute to the development of Finance BI capability and ways of working.

What you'll bring

  • Significant experience in data, business intelligence or analytics roles, preferably supporting Finance, FP&A or a commercial function, with demonstrated experience operating at a senior level.
  • Strong hands-on skills in Power BI, including data modelling, DAX and dashboard design, with experience designing scalable enterprise reporting solutions.
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying, transforming and validating large datasets, with experience working with cloud data platforms such as Redshift.
  • Solid financial acumen with the ability to interpret financial data including P&L, revenue, cost, variance and margin analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills with strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and multiple concurrent requests.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex BI and analytics initiatives from requirements through development, validation, UAT and implementation.
  • Experience identifying and implementing reporting automation and process improvement opportunities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to translate between Finance requirements and technical data/BI solutions.

Desirable

  • Experience working with modern cloud data platforms and enterprise data models.
  • Experience delivering BI solutions in a complex enterprise environment involving Finance, Data, IT and analytics teams.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Data, Analytics, Information Technology or a related discipline.

What's in it for you?

  • Flexible hybrid way of working (from home and office)
  • ‘Stay Connected Mobile’ – Access to a free mobile plan
  • ‘Stay Connected NBN’ – Access to a free, high speed NBN plan (up to 500 Mbps)
  • Access to TPG Learning Hub platform and internal development opportunities
  • Access to Corporate Partner Discounts

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
