ABOUT TRAVERSAL

Traversal http://traversal.com?utm_source=home&utm_medium=doc&utm_campaign=brand-designer is the AI Site Reliability Engineer (AI SRE) for the enterprise.

Production complexity was already outpacing what engineering teams could manage manually, and AI-generated code is accelerating that gap. Traversal is built for that challenge, autonomously understanding and reasoning across even the largest, most complex production environments to diagnose, fix, and prevent incidents. Our mission is to free engineers from endless firefighting and give them more time to focus on creative, high-impact work.

Today, Traversal operates in mission-critical environments at some of the world’s largest enterprises. Our roots remain deeply embedded in AI research, and we’ve brought together researchers from institutions including MIT, Harvard, Berkeley, Columbia, and Cornell with world-class technical staff and operators from companies like Google, Meta, Datadog, ServiceNow, and Citadel Securities to take on one of the hardest problems for AI to solve. Traversal is backed by Sequoia Capital, Kleiner Perkins, Hanabi, NFDG, and American Express Ventures.

THE ROLE

As our first internal Brand Designer, you will help shape how Traversal shows up visually across every touchpoint, from social media and product launches to sales materials, events, out-of-home campaigns, swag, and more.

This role is ideal for a multidisciplinary designer with exceptional visual craft who wants to work across many areas of brand rather than stay in one lane. We don’t expect you to have mastered every design discipline; we do expect you to be exceptional in a few, with the curiosity and resourcefulness to learn new skills quickly when a project calls for them. You’ll take ownership of a wide variety of fast-moving creative projects and help build the systems and AI-powered tools that allow us to produce great work at scale.

For someone interested in stretching beyond visual design, there will also be plenty of room to think about the broader brand experience, from brainstorming campaigns and activations to contributing ideas for how Traversal can show up and stand out.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Bring the Traversal brand to life across a wide range of digital and physical touchpoints, from product launches and social media to sales collateral and physical brand experiences

- Design high-quality sales and marketing collateral, including decks, one-pagers, case studies, templates, and other customer-facing materials

- Create compelling social content across formats, including graphics, carousels, product visuals, and lightweight motion and video

- Design creative for physical and out-of-home brand experiences, including trade show booths, signage, swag, billboards, and subway ads

- Evolve Traversal’s visual identity while building and maintaining the systems, templates, and guidelines that keep the brand distinctive and consistent across touchpoints

- Experiment with and build generative AI tools and workflows that increase the speed, quality, and scale of brand work across the company

- Manage a range of fast-moving creative projects and priorities, partnering with Marketing, Sales, and other teams from concept through delivery

- Contribute ideas beyond visual design, helping shape campaigns, activations, social concepts, and other creative ways to make the Traversal brand stand out

REQUIREMENTS

- 3–5 years of experience in brand, visual, or multidisciplinary design, ideally at a high-growth technology company, startup, or creative agency

- A strong portfolio demonstrating excellent visual craft and brand judgment, including exceptional attention to typography, hierarchy, composition, and detail and the ability to turn loosely defined ideas into polished work

- Fluency with tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Google Slides, with flexibility to bring your own preferred tools and workflows

- Deep expertise in a few areas of brand design, paired with the versatility and curiosity to take on unfamiliar formats and quickly learn what you don’t already know

- Experience across some combination of social, presentations, marketing collateral, events, out-of-home, and physical brand experiences

- Experience incorporating product UI, screenshots, and recordings into compelling brand and social content, with the ability to create lightweight motion and simple video

- Comfort managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-moving environment, with an interest in using and building generative AI tools to scale creative work

NICE TO HAVE

- Experience contributing to broader brand marketing initiatives, such as integrated campaigns, brand activations, partnerships, or other creative programs

- Strong instincts for social media and ideas for how brands can show up in distinctive, culturally relevant ways

- Copywriting or messaging experience, particularly developing creative concepts that bring together words and visuals

- Deeper motion design, animation, or video editing experience

- Web design experience, particularly working within an established brand system

- Industry experience in AI, infrastructure, developer tools, cloud, observability, cybersecurity, or enterprise software

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
