We’re looking for a proactive, organized financial professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. In this role, you will supervise accounting staff, coordinate variance analysis, and operational cost modeling while working closely with production, procurement, project managers, and executive leadership to ensure transparent, accurate, and strategic fiscal management of our assets.
What You’ll Do:
Financial Reporting & General Ledger Operations
- Oversee and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting files.
- Prepare and review site-level financial reporting packages and schedules to support corporate consolidation requests, external reporting under IFRS, and financing requirements.
- Assist in the preparation, consolidation, and analysis of the annual operating budget, capital expenditure plans, and periodic forecasts.
Internal Controls, Compliance & Audit Management
- Serve as a key site liaison for internal and external auditors during interim reviews and annual audits, coordinating deliverables and resolving audit findings.
- Standardize, document, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal workflows to ensure continuous process improvement and data integrity.
Operational Support & Cost Controls
- Partner closely with operations and supply chain to analyze unit costs, processing costs, and asset utilization.
- Track major capital project expenditures against approvals (AFEs) and perform analysis for proposed capital expansions or acquisitions
- Leverage ERP systems to streamline data extraction, automate recurring reports, and improve the accuracy of operational financial metrics.
Team Leadership & Strategic Decision Support
- Plan, supervise, and mentor site accounting personnel, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and professional growth.
- Identify opportunities to optimize financial workflows, internal controls, and data integrity within the forecasting and reporting cycles.
What You Bring:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting and/or industry, including experience with general ledger management and financial close cycles.
- 2+ years supervisory experience leading and developing team members.
- Strong knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting (SOX/ICFR) and established accounting frameworks (IFRS).
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling standards.
- Strong experience with ERP systems and other reporting software tools such as Power BI
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable steps for non-financial managers.
- High level of organization, professional judgment, and analytical capabilities with rigorous attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, CMA, or MBA designation highly preferred
- Previous experience in capital-intensive industries—such as mining, extractive metallurgy, heavy manufacturing, construction, or utilities—is heavily favored.
Working Conditions
- Work is primarily performed in a professional climate-controlled office environment on-site.
- Mostly sedentary; ability to be on feet or move throughout the facility as needed.
- Occasionally may need to lift up to 20 lbs
- Strict adherence to established safety standards is required at all times
- Full-time, standard business hours. Occasional extended hours or weekend work may be required during peak fiscal periods, such as year-end audits and the annual budget cycle.
