The posting

You've spent 20+ years mastering bridge and structural design. You've led teams, solved complex problems, and delivered projects that will outlast your career. Now it's time to step into a role where your expertise shapes a growing practice. DRMP is seeking a Chief Bridge Engineer to lead our expanding structures practice —managing complex DOT projects, mentoring world-class engineers, and setting the standard for excellence in bridge design across the Southeast.

The Opportunity

DRMP is a fast-growing transportation engineering firm with deep expertise in bridge design, infrastructure rehabilitation, and structural solutions. We're expanding our structures practice, and we need a Chief Bridge Engineer who can lead technical excellence, grow project pursuits, and develop the next generation of structural engineers.

What you will lead:

Lead Complex Bridge & Structures Projects

  • Serve as Project Manager, Engineer of Record, or Design Lead on multi-disciplined transportation projects.
  • Work with conventional and alternative delivery methods.
  • Make critical technical decisions that shape project success.

Set Technical Standards & Perform QA/QC

  • Direct all aspects of bridge design, structural calculations, plans preparation, and specifications. Perform rigorous technical reviews ensuring designs meet AASHTO LRFD standards, FDOT criteria, and DRMP's high standards.

Drive Business Development & Marketing

  • Lead marketing efforts for major bridge pursuits, including FDOT Letters of Response, client presentations, and technical interviews.
  • Help win new work that elevates DRMP's reputation.

Mentor & Develop High-Performing Engineers

  • Train junior and mid-level engineers in design, analysis, and technical leadership.
  • Build a team of exceptional structural professionals.
  • Shape the future of the practice through mentorship.

Support Project Delivery Throughout All Phases

  • Lead design alternatives investigations, respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, and provide construction-phase problem-solving.
  • Ensure projects succeed from start to finish.

What you bring:

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (ABET-accredited)
  • Licensed PE (PE/SE in Florida preferred; ability to obtain Florida registration required)
  • 15+ years post-registration structural engineering experience
  • 20+ years bridge design and plans production experience (concrete, steel, and other transportation structures)
  • Deep expertise with bridge design software (FB Multi-Pier, Leap Bridge, CSi, STAAD, FDOT tools, etc.)
  • Proficiency in OpenBridge Modeler, MicroStation, GEOPAK, AutoCAD, or similar CADD platforms
  • Mastery of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and FDOT standards
  • Proven ability to mentor junior staff and lead multidisciplinary bridge projects
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and time management skills

Nice to Have:

  • Master's degree (MSE/MSCE) in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • SE (Structural Engineer) certification
  • Experience with complex structures, post-tensioning, or straddle bent design
  • Construction specialty engineering or field experience
  • 3D modeling with OpenBridge Modeler
  • FDOT project experience

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
