Owl Payments Europe Limited (OPEL) is a Payment Institution authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland, supporting the Tripadvisor marketplace across the European Economic Area.

This role is a hybrid position that requires 4 days per week in our Dublin office.

The role

Reporting to the CEO of Owl Payments Europe Limited, the CFO will lead OPEL’s finance function and hold senior responsibility for its safeguarding framework. The role encompasses PCF-11 Head of Finance and PCF-56 Head of Safeguarding and is subject to approval by the Central Bank of Ireland. The CFO will be responsible for OPEL’s financial and regulatory reporting, safeguarding, capital and liquidity, CESOP, tax, audit, financial controls and reporting to the Board, Executive Committee and Risk and Compliance Committee.

What You’ll Do

As PCF-11 Head of Finance, lead OPEL’s finance function and oversee its financial and regulatory reporting obligations.

  • Prepare OPEL’s budgets, forecasts, management accounts and statutory financial statements.
  • Ensure OPEL’s financial records and statutory financial statements comply with FRS 102, Irish company law and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee financial controls, tax, external audit, intercompany accounting and cost allocations.
  • Maintain OPEL’s Finance Policy and supporting procedures.
  • Ensure Central Bank regulatory returns are accurate, appropriately reviewed and submitted on time.
  • Oversee OPEL’s capital, liquidity, cash management and financial-resource requirements.
  • As PCF-56 Head of Safeguarding, maintain oversight of OPEL’s safeguarding framework, policy and supporting procedures.
  • Review and sign off safeguarding reconciliations and ensure discrepancies or shortfalls are investigated, funded and escalated promptly.
  • Ensure OPEL meets its safeguarding and related reporting obligations and provide appropriate reporting to the CEO, Board, EXCO and RCC.
  • Own the governance and control framework for CESOP reporting.
  • Prepare and present financial and regulatory reporting to the Board, EXCO and RCC.
  • Manage OPEL’s external audit and relevant relationships with the Central Bank, auditors, advisers and service providers.
  • Work closely with Tripadvisor Finance and Accounting while exercising independent judgement and prioritising the responsibilities owed to OPEL.
  • Ensure the finance function is appropriately resourced to meet its financial and regulatory obligations.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to improve efficiency, quality, and decision-making in day-to-day work.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively with a global-first mindset
  • Previous experience holding PCF-11 Head of Finance and/or PCF-56 Head of Safeguarding within a Central Bank of Ireland-authorised Payment Institution or Electronic Money Institution.
  • A qualified accountant with an ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent qualification.
  • Significant senior finance experience within a regulated financial-services firm.
  • Strong experience in management and statutory reporting, external audit, budgeting, forecasting, financial controls and tax.
  • Strong practical safeguarding experience within a regulated Payment Institution or Electronic Money Institution.
  • Experience of regulatory reporting, capital and liquidity.
  • Experience of intercompany accounting and cost allocations within an international organisation.
  • Experience preparing and presenting financial and regulatory information to Boards and senior management.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with regulators, auditors and senior stakeholders.
  • The competence and capacity required to obtain and retain Central Bank approval for PCF-11 and PCF-56.
