The posting

Company Description

Trupanion is a leading provider of medical insurance for cats and dogs in North America. Our mission is to help loving, responsible pet owners budget and care for their pets. At Trupanion, we offer a collaborative, casual, and pet-friendly environment where everyone is encouraged to be themselves.

Job Description

As the Senior Digital Experience Manager, you will lead the digital strategy, business vision, and user experience for our member-facing digital policy-management products, our mobile app and online member portal. In this role, you will define what features to build to achieve key business and member growth outcomes, partnering closely with a dedicated Technical Product Ownership team that manages technical delivery and sprint execution.

Sitting within the Member Marketing team, this strategic role bridges member insights, lifecycle strategy, UI/UX design, and cross-functional business priorities. You will act as the executive business sponsor for the mobile application, ensuring it serves as a best-in-class, high-engagement platform for pet parents to manage policies, submit claims, and interact with our brand.

This position is open to candidates in the Seattle, WA area. You will have a hybrid remote/in-office schedule where you will work from our casual, pet-friendly office at least 3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

1. Mobile App Feature Strategy & Business Ownership

  • Mobile Business Strategy: Serve as the primary business owner for the mobile app, establishing long-term product vision, feature roadmaps, and strategic priorities tied directly to business growth, member engagement, and retention.
  • Business Requirements & Scoping: Define member-facing feature concepts, translate business goals into clear user stories and business requirements, and articulate product goals to business and technical partners.
  • In-App Lifecycle & Growth: Design and optimize in-app user experience, messaging, push notifications, onboarding flows, and self-service feature adoption.
  • Feature Value & Innovation: Identify new mobile-first features that improve member satisfaction and drive operational efficiency.

2. Technical Product Partnership & Delivery Alignment

  • Strategic Tech Partnership: Partner closely with Technical Product Managers and Engineering leads who own the technical backlog, sprint planning, development velocity, and system architecture.
  • Prioritization & Acceptance: Own business-level feature prioritization, working with Technical Product Owners to refine backlogs and validate that delivered features satisfy business requirements and UX standards.
  • UAT & Go-to-Market Readiness: Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) from a business and member-experience perspective, ensuring go-to-market readiness, campaign alignment, and launch communications across marketing channels.

3. Team Leadership & Digital Ecosystem Alignment

  • People Management: Direct, mentor, and empower the Digital Experience Manager. Oversee their work across web portal front-end operations, CMS content updates, and cross-departmental requests.
  • Holistic Digital Strategy: Ensure business and user experience alignment between the Mobile App and the web-based Member Portal to create a cohesive, frictionless member journey.
  • Cross-Functional Stakeholder Alignment: Act as the primary business advocate to Legal, Compliance, Claims, and Creative teams, ensuring mobile initiatives comply with regulatory requirements while optimizing user experience.

4. Analytics, Performance & Business Outcomes

  • KPI & Success Measurement: Define and own key business metrics for the app (e.g., active user growth, feature adoption rates, claim submission funnel completion, store ratings, and operational cost savings).
  • Reporting & Executive Insights: Build and deliver executive-level performance reporting using GA4 and app analytics platforms to track ROI and justify roadmap investments.
  • Optimization & Research: Utilize user feedback, session recordings, and A/B testing insights to drive continuous feature refinement and friction reduction.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Digital Product Management, or related field.
  • Experience:Minimum 7+ years of digital strategy, marketing, or digital product management experience. 3+ years in a product/business ownership role for native Mobile Apps (iOS & Android), defining product vision and feature roadmaps. Proven track record partnering with Technical Product Managers, Engineering leads, and Agile teams to deliver mobile features. 2+ years of direct people management experience. Strong expertise in product analytics (e.g., GA4, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or App Store Connect). Experience with multi-language/localization management in digital touchpoints. Insurance, fintech, pet health, or subscription services experience is a strong plus.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Strategic Business Vision: Ability to translate business growth targets and customer insights into prioritizable digital capabilities and multi-quarter roadmaps.
  • Technical-Business Translation: Skilled at bridging business needs with technical possibilities, articulating clear user value without needing to manage daily sprint execution.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Exceptional stakeholder management skills; adept at influencing matrixed teams across Marketing, Technology, Claims, and Legal.
  • Analytical & Data-Driven: Comfort evaluating digital funnels, user retention metrics, and qualitative feedback to guide strategic investments.
  • Member Advocacy: Passionate about designing simple, empathetic user experiences for pet parents during moments of need.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
