ABOUT THE ROLE
We are transforming our Risk and Compliance function, and seeking a Risk Manager to own a single view of the second-line risk and control environment across Trustly's EU and UK regulated entities. Trustly’s European business operates primarily through Trustly Group AB (TGAB), a licensed payment institution based in Stockholm and supervised by the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen).
As the Risk Manager, you will act as Head of Risk for Trustly’s EU and UK regulated entities, leading second-line risk oversight, stakeholder engagement and Board reporting, supported by the Global Enterprise Risk Management framework.
This role is suited to a seasoned second-line risk professional with experience in regulated financial/payment institutions, ideally with experience of engaging with regulators.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Act as head of risk for Trustly's EU and UK regulated entities, acting as an independent second-line function.
- Challenge first-line risk owners and report regularly to senior management and the Board on risk profile, appetite breaches and emerging risks.
- Own a single view of the second-line risk environment across the EU/UK regulated entities.
- Implement and exercise the enterprise risk management framework in the EU/UK regulated entities, including contribution to standardised reporting including Key Risk Indicators.
- Work with first line risk owners and lead the identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting of risks identified, and undertake Risk and Control Self Assessments.
- Contribute to the annual risk assessment and assurance planning.
- Ensure risk processes meet the expectations of the relevant supervisors (for example the ACPR or Finansinspektionen) and the applicable EU frameworks.
- Serve as a primary point of contact toward the relevant EU and UK regulators/supervisors on risk matters, representing the function confidently and credibly.
WHO YOU ARE
- 3-5 years experience as a second-line risk manager
- Payments sector experience preferred
- Experience engaging with EU and/or UK financial supervisory authorities is desired
- A confident and articulate approach, demonstrating an ability to represent the risk function credibly and build productive relationships across business teams
- Ability to advise and collaborate with stakeholders at various levels, including senior management and Board members.
- Sound understanding of the EU and UK regulatory landscape relevant to payment institutions
- A firm grasp of the three-lines of defence model and the independence boundary between second and third line.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex concepts and present to senior leadership, Boards, and regulators.
- Willingness to work flexibly to collaborate with team members across different time zones.
